51 would work, 61 would be better, more power to handle rough conditions. IMHO.

I have a Legacy with a PA-51 side exhaust.  The engine is an absolute horse!  I also have a rear exhaust PA-61 in my SL-3 which I really like, but I suspect that my 51 is more powerful.  Randy Smith: what say you?

Actually the Lagacy is a fairly large ship and a good flier...none on the PA's would be too much for it.
My absolute favorite is the 65 on a Randy Pipe.  Very tunable and easy to use...always a solid run.
There's no significant weight difference between any of the engines mentioned but the 65 is a growler and easier to use.

The 51 is actually very powerful...probably as much as any of the PA's but a little more finicky to prop and tune than the 65.  At least that's been my experience and I've had several of each in airplanes.  If you can...get a 65 and a pipe and you won't be disappointed.
Probably the closet thing to a turnkey stunt setup available.

Considering that David Fitzgerald runs a PA75 in his Thundergazer, which is smaller than the Legacy, a PA61 on pipe is not too much engine. Controllable power, not horsepower, is the goal.

My own Legacy is E-powered, but I have a Brodak Legacy kit (unbuilt) and a PA61 on pipe that will go into it. Here in California the larger PAs are more popular, especially the PA65 if you can get your hands on one.

Hi Marcus

Either will work very well, I use the 51 in my Katana, it is very easy to setup, just as the 61 is
So just take you pick

Now, regarding props, what dia and pitch?
3 blade or 2 blade?
Sorry so many questions...
Thanks again for the help...

Should you find them the Bolly or Magic  13 x 4.25 2 blade   or  12.25 x 4.25  2 blade work on both
The Bolly or Magic 12 inch x 4.5 3 blades work well on both also, If you have a Lee or eather 13 inch 2 blade  or 12 inch  3 blade  they can also work
