video, tamden flight with scale models
« on: January 04, 2010, 10:44:26 AM »
Check out this video that we got last summer with two CL models, video camera is mounted to the 80" span red and white model (OS-90 2-stroke) and the smaller F4U scale has a 42" span and a OS-35 for power. Both models have electronic throttle control and are being flown at a location east of the Denver area. We used the Flycam1 video camera that was shock mounted to the camera plane.

Where exactly is this flying field? Looks like it would be worth the trip up to the Denver area just to put in a flight or two :)
Are there any contests held there?

So you got to fly with Lynn in his back yard.  Can you beleive he put on a feed in his garage.  Talking to his Dad, was told Lynn has always been a neat nik.  What did you think of his place?

Very interesting video, half expected "blinking lights" from the gun porsts on the Corsair!  It looks like the tail of the camera plane was moving/flexing - was that real or just an illusion caused by the shock mounting of the vid camera?

The video camera had three layers of shock isolation, the OS-90 four stroke can put some serious virbration the video cameras can't handle.

The vibration that does come thru does create a strange image, so yes the image looks like it's flexing, that is due to vibration.

As for the flying site, that belongs to a good friiend who lives east of the Denver area. On a scale from 1 to 10 this private flying site gets a 15 in my book. He does have the CL club meet there on occasion and they have club events there. They are part of the Rocky Mountion Aeromodelers. He doesn't host any CL contests there. Just a very dedicated Control Line pilot who wanted his own flying site in his back yard!

We plan on getting more video this summer when we get some additional models together, more to come.

Very cool- I really like the high and low passes and then catching up again from behind.

That was super cool! If I ever win the lotto that's exactly what my backyard would look like, way cool! y1
