Buy a Castor Oil refinery !!!  Just kidding  LL~   You may have to buy a 5-10% RC sport fuel and add castor to bring the total oil content  up around 25% or so. Klotz sells a product called Beanall which does a good job when you add it to RC sport fuel. Sig may still sell castor oil in quarts also. Most RC sport fuels have around 15 to 18% total oil, which ain't enough for the old mehanite Fox.  :)

Sig still catalogs castor oil in quarts and gallons, but my hobby shop has been having tremendous difficulty with getting stuff from them -- we've been waiting since February for a Sig order to come in that has a gallon of castor that I ordered.

Fox sells castor; they are polite, nice, and prompt.

For that matter, Fox sells fuel -- but with castor, you can just doctor up RC sport fuel.

Smith Brothers Hobby Shop in Northridge. Ask for Tony Naccaratto.  They stock Sig 10% nitro/25% castor blend which will work well in a Fox 35. If you wish you could add a couple of ounces (2.6 to be exact) of Klotz Synthetic oil per gallon which will raise the lube content 2% and make it even better. That is probably available at the Smith Bros shop as well. 8)

For the old Foxs and McCoys, I wouldn't add any synthetic. Even a small amount will wash out all that nice varnish that maintains the compression in these iron engines.
This happened to me a while back when I couldn't get any straight castor fuel and used a castor/ synthetic blend in my McCoy .19. I couldn't figure out at first what all that brown guck was on my wing and why my engine was losing compression and becoming hard to start.

Besides Smith Bros, There is also Covina hobby. 140 North Citrus Ave. Covina
They carry 18%, and 20% fuel, and Sig castor oil.
I live in Orange county, I can help if necessary.
See you at Whittier narrows.

Is your Fox .35 new or old? Some use 25% lube, half castor, half synthetic in new Foxes with good results.

For old, high run time, iron/steel engines like the Fox...as Orv mentioned, may have a castor varnish that will be removed with just a little synthetic in the fuel. You can restore this seal by switching to all-castor fuel.

Fox Superfuel has 28% all-castor lube if I remember correctly, and was originally touted to restore some compression and thus extend engine life back when almost all engines were iron/steel.

I hope some of the information provided in this thread will help. You know what to get and where to get it. Good luck, and welcome back to CL.

I was able to purchase quarts of Fox Superfuel from Fox with no hazmat shipping charge. Gallons require a ridiculously expensive hazmat charge.

Go to the "engine set up tips" page on this forum and read the article by Randy.  VERY informative.

If you are in southern California, why not drive to Phoenix AZ and get  some Excaliber fuel.   He will also ship fuel by the case.  By the way I think Eric at RSM Dist. may make you some fuel and he is in California. H^^

Visit the CL circles at Whittier Narrows on any SCAR Race day (Southern California Air Racers).  If you join the club ($15/yr), you can race, and you get cool newsletters, AND you can buy Rich's Brew 10% Fuel in either 20% Castor (for Foxes/Coxes and other oldies, or if you just prefer the smell of Castor in the morning) or 20%-50/50 Castor/Synthetic all for the bargain price of only $16 a gallon no shipping no tax you just pays your money and you carry it to your car.  This fuel is what is provided to all the racers on race day for consistency and I have heard ZERO complaints.  So come on out and join the club and pick up some fuel.  You can't miss the fuel depot, it's a folding card table covered/surrounded by gallons/cases of fuel.
