make a bomb!
Seriously, Is anyone else out there looking for some great new *inspiration* to get a new plane done for the coming year? Let me know what you have come up with if you have found it................
-
My inspiration to get a new plane done was watching the guys fly in the breeze on Sunday at KIO; oh, and also the stack of kits and plans in the corner of the shop. y1
Seriously, watching the Expert flights on Sunday helped me to really see how the larger more powerful planes perform better under adverse conditions than the smaller less powerful models I have been flying. It caused me to change my building schedule in order to get a piped 60 size plane in the air sooner than I would have otherwise.
Cheers,
Jim

Bill,
I agree with Jim , There is no better inspiration to get a competition plane started or completed than to go to a well attended event and see what your competition is using. This is good advice for all skill levels .
The New Nostalga '79 Class has me enthused to spend more time in the shop.
Jim had one of the best looking profile models at KOI . I believe it was a Cardinal with some modifications . Super finish and very clean .

Bill, Will and other interested folks,
This may be a little inspiration for some folks:
I wanted to mention that the Central Alabama Stunt Squadron plans to have a Warbird Stunt Class at our contest the first weekend in Oct. this year.
I don't know if this has been done before or not, but it seemed like a way to focus a little attention on our military and to have an excuse to build a new model.
We are working on some event guidlines (rules)---sorta starting with a clean sheet of paper:
1. Must be a recognizable model of an actual military aircraft, with appropriate national markings.
No Nobler or Primary Force, for example, with military markings.
2. Colors/markings appropriate to aircraft mission (no air race or private party colors).
3. Profile or full fuse models are OK.
4. Five point bonus for landing gear attached to the structure in scale location.
5. This is NOT a scale contest----the full PAMPA pattern will be flown.
6. All AMA safety rules will be followed.
I am open to suggestions on how to make this work----so, fire away.
Thanks,
Jim

There are so many semi scale planes out there that following the *rules* should be no problem.
I think you have it about down. A *Warbird* in *Warbird Markings* should suffice. People should not have a problem understanding that. ;D

My inspiration was Joe Gilbert wanting to come over and build a couple Ringmaster 576's together.. He got me started now I have the Ringmaster finished with 3 flights and a SIG Somethin'Extra kit bashed into a Saito 56 powered stunt ship about ready for covering and finish.

Pix of Bob's RM on the RM Forum show very, very nice finish and attention to detail, not visable in the pic shown here.
Way to go, Bob!!

Think outside the box like you keep telling everyone else to do. Build something no one else has. How's this?
LOL

If you want to get pumped up about flying , you need to come out to the next MCLS club meeting , We are having it at the Home of James and Betty Duckworth and At the American Junior Museum.. You will be overwelmed ... and enthused 2:00 Feb 23 , we will eat at Wendy's for break We will fly before and after the club meeting . Bring some 1/2 a planes or some sport planes and have a blast...

Hey Bill you could always build me a plane. LL~ LL~ LL~
-
Hi Will,
That's a possibility, but a 2 plus hour trip is not as easy as it once was.........
-
Bill,
Just the trip to see the American Junior Museum is worth the ride , Besides it may get you pumped up and build that new Nostalga'79 plane , Juno , I bet .
I know about them long rides , we have made a few trips to Winston just to fly once or twice
but we had fun
Will

Yep, Winston is a touch closer for me, actually, but both are bad trips due to bad roads.
Thanks for the picture! ;D
