Todays Technology

In my 70 plus years on this piece of floating rock in space, it still amazes me how things have progressed in just the last couple of decades or even the last couple of years.  When I went to work for the phone company the cell phone was not even thought of,  it was a mobile phone back then.   Also the computers we now have sitting on our desks or even in our laps, with lap tops,  has given us an open link to the world.   Paying bills on line or even keeping tabs with friends and relatives.   Just today ordering a set of plans it was so easy.  No envelope,  no stamp or even having to take time to address it.   Even on this forum we get almost instant replies to questions and up dates on our friends in the model plane world.  Now my wife and daughter have pocket phones that do as much as I can on the home computer.   Now to keep this  model plane related, besides ordering plans, look at that we have at our finger tips  for building, finishing and flying  of  said models.   What is it going to be like when I leave this piece of floating rock?

Besides correcting the title, the administrator has my permission to move this if they want.  jeh

John;

  Worthy of mention too are readily available tools like Profili, X-foil, etc. that leverage work done by aeronautical engineers, and provide 'joe public' access to serious computing power that enables you to tweak airfoil designs and then evaluate the results...
