I have patched the spar on the bottom wing on my Bi-Slob more then once. On one side it even broke a rib. I am trying to figure out how to keep this from happening.
Any ideas?

Hey Paul... Simple, build it the way we did with both the original SLOBS and BI-SLOBS. Eigth inch ply l.g. former, angled forward.

This is what I did after rebuilding the spar/front end a couple of times.

I don't know. Land softer y1

1/4 scale R/C gear and 4" balloon wheels.

Use the alum gear from an All American or Barnstormer kit. We have been doing that for quite a while and it solves the broken spar problem. You can get them from Brodak.

Stop letting me fly it and stop hitting the ground VD~
-
If it is from the gear spreading too much, solder a spreader bar of 1/16 wire between the gear legs. Two wires are much harder to bend than one.

Land softly. LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~ LL~

Paul when Dan and I were flying our slobs we would get carried away hitting the ground too hard and that would always happen. I repaired it and it did it again and again. I asked him what should I do with it. He tried using spruce on his bottom spar and it still did it. He said pull out the broken pieces and cover over it. I had to laugh. Ken

With mine I put in 1/8" balsa plates between spars and it broke again on next landing so then I added a 1/8" ply plate and used an aluminum R/C gear I had laying around from who knows what. End of problem until a wind gust threw the airplane half way across the circle at me. At 65 I'm unable to run fast enough to keep the lines tight. Need to build another but the gear/spar assembly survived. lol Nick

Hi rootbeard!
Like the guys say, an aluminum gear mounted sorta like the one in the Vector you just did. ;D
