Made it safe and sound in Kuwait a few days ago. Ive been in and out of this place many times in my travels to Iraq and Afghanistan. Seems kind of weird that Ill be here for 9 months. Ali is a more-or-less permanent Air Force base, and is built up pretty nice with just about every amenity one could imagine for a place like this. Even our living accommodations surpassed my expectations....I can do this until March
Transport of LIPO batteries was successful. There was a tense moment in the beginning of the trip when the powers that be were complaining about the lithium batteries in those electronic vapor machines...and here I am sitting on about 35 cells of LIPOs!!! I kept my mouth shut, and they all made it here without incident.
Still waiting on the model and equipment to get here. Not a whole lot of places to fly, though I have eyed what seems to be a parking lot right by the airfield. Nice, flat, clean concrete--optimal flying site and in an otherwise unused part of the base so I should draw little attention.
Only concern is the heat!! It hit 117 today, so performance is going to be terrible (for both man and machine). Also its pretty windy from about 0900 on this time of the year, so I will have to be up with the sun.
Received a bunch of mission related briefings yesterday...the contents of which are classified of course. Just know that I am in the business of blowing up bad guys, and business here is very...very good
Everyone take care and fly safe. I will keep you posted on my flying persuits, and try to post a video or two on here when I get in the air. In the meantime don't worry about me too much on this trip. The biggest danger here is the intense sun reflecting off of the pool
