.I would think it would work, and if it's bigger, you might only have to open it up a turn or two, and the adjustment might be tricky. Is it the newer style, what I call "barrel type" with two O rings that are supposed to seal out air? If so, and it does work, you might have problems getting the needle right on certain days. I wish they had not gone back to that style of needle.
The type of needle that was on the FP series rear needle valve engines worked pretty well. It was basically the same needle as a standard C/ L needle valve assembly. It was set up with a metal bracket, and could be mounted several ways to make it convenient to reach the needle. I have had several models set up this way to make it easier for my son to adjust the needle when he was younger, and they all worked well. The only issues I had with it, were you had to choke the engine a lot more to start it, and it didn't want to shut off off cleanly when the tank ran dry. Tilting the back of the tank outwards helped that.
The last time I checked Great Planes/Tower Hobbies still had the bracket, spray bar and needle valve assembly in stock. It should work well, but you may have to tweak the set up a bit to get there.
Good luck and have fun.
