Title: What?? What's better than a Ringmaster Gyro? A dyna-jet Gyro, of course!
Post by: Scott Richlen on October 03, 2016, 05:55:49 PM
And we know just the right person to build one: Young Daniel!

So, this is the start of our "let's get Dan to build something really outrageous!" campaign.

Target completion date: Brodaks Fly-In (where Dan always flies something outrageous!)

So, if you want to be part of inciting Dan to top all of control-line-dom (dumb?) by designing, building and flying a jet-Gyro, post your reply with your personal appropriate (or inappropriate) encouragement.

We'll ask Mike Palko to carry this E-petition to Dan (that way we can all deny having to do anything with it later and blame Mike.... ;D)

Is this a great country or what?

Scott

Well Scott that is a great idea.  This has already been done in our club so the next logical step is a gyro jet.

At least it won't torque roll but get ready for the rotor blades to blow off.

How about two jets, one on each rotor blade tip like the old Hiller?

My 11-y.o. son is very keen on the idea of a Dynajet-powered McCutcheon wing.

What could possibly go wrong?

It could be done, but to do it properly you would need three Dynajets, one for the tip of each rotor.  VD~

What?   ???  Only 7 takers (even counting one nay-sayer!)   Z@@ZZZ  How are we going to convince Dan to go off on this wild hare if you guys all sit on your hands?   n1  How did everyone get so responsible and mature so suddenly?   S?P  How will we ever get this wacky idea off the ground (what a great pun - I'm saving this one!) if no one is interested in a jet powered gyro??   HB~>

(despondently),

I don't believe the rotors would hold up unless the jet could be slowed down considerably.

Perhaps a drag chute well back of the hot exhaust could tame it enough to not rip the rotors off

Maybe we build it with swept rotors?

A slightly different "Spin" on a old idea.
