What we need are cheesy stunters...
« on: November 07, 2012, 01:28:56 PM »
It seems to me that with an increasing number of CL Stunt Guys more than willing to just suck all the soul out of otherwise perfectly acceptable models by fitting electric motors, big ol' batteries and speed controls (speed controls? Give me a break!) to their latest piece of handiwork, that maybe we need to look at other possibilities.

I mean, if they'll go for electrics what else will they go for?!

How about a cheese-powered diesel? Makes sense to me, at least when considering the context.

A recent AutoWeek magazine pictures and describes what appears to be a Sportsman-class (relatively short wheelbase) back-motored dragster posed on the Salt Flats at Bonneville. Why they went to Bonneville is not exactly clear as the thing peaked out at 65.344 miles per hour.

But it did run, a diesel motor stuffed where it is assumed a good ol' Amurrican V-8 used to reside, and as diesels can run on lots of stuff this one runs on cheese. (Hold the Cheese Whiz comments and jokes, please.)

A project from Utah State University (ah, that's why they went to the flats--it's in the 'hood) if you want more information or, like me, are making a list of universities and colleges you'd just as soon not see your grandurchins attend.

A diesel running on CHEESE?

I have to assume 'murricans have a day in early November that is the equivalent of our 01 April in Northern Europe...

A diesel running on rapeseed oil I could understand.

It's hard to get legitimate rapeseed oil anymore.

What keeps the exhaust from plugging up with melted cheese? ...or does it come out grated?  n~

I hope they aren't wasting a good Brie.

Were not getting to the central issue here and that is, the effect of mold on engine run times. In addition, how do we know that excessive veining could contribute to engine over-runs? Do you control your break by the age of the cheese?

Please, lets focus on these important topics!!

Tests show Michigan Pinconning cheddar has been found to provide not just a better stunt run but more power on hot temp days.

Dan old boy ,  you need  to get back to the contest circuit next season, because you obviously need a good dose of reality.besides which, it's been boring going to contests surrounded only by sober people , and no one to tease.
You've been missed .  Keith

Rubber band control line stunt.

RBCLS

RBCLS; It's been done; many, many (60) years ago. They couldn't get a long enough run to do the pattern.

I'm serious; I judged one's stunt pattern at the VSC many years ago. (10 or 15)

I thought the cheese power sounded good. So I quickly modified an old McCoy 40. Had it at the field early this morning for the maiden flight. It wasn't as successful as you might think; mid-flight the engine kept stopping then starting over and over. Guess I shouldn't have used Swiss.

Concerning cheesy Stunters. If your not down with the cheese in the tank thing, you could focus on a cheesy plane.

1. Trim your ship in multiple day glow colors.
2. Cement pictures of Britney Spears and Spooky of "Jersey Shore all over the plane.
3. Try to have as many autographs of various Boy Bands plastered all over the wing.
4. Have a cockpit with room for two pilots with Captain America in Front and Batman in back.
5. Last but not least-attach tail lights from "59" Cadillac to each wing tip.
