Bi Slob
« on: December 30, 2019, 06:42:40 AM »
Hello to all.
I have a Bi-Slob to build but I am not interested in a Fox.
I have on hand:
OS FP 25
OS FP 35
OS LA 25

None of the mounting holes are like a Fox35 . The OS 35 is the closest.. I am wondering if  this OS is to powerful?  Or use one of the 25's

Peter,

Others will have different opinions, but I think the FP 25 would be about right.

A Bi-Slob isn't as much about pure power as it is about reliability. Having a flame-out in a hover or on a touch-and-go is less than pleasant. The FP will be adequate, reliable power. The FP25 should be plenty powerful.

For the way that the Bi-Slob is intended to be flown, you would be better off with the FP-35 I think. It's designed to run in the RPM range that you will need to fly a Slob like it was intended. It's a big, draggy airplane so you need all the power you can put in it. It does not rely on any momentum to do maneuvers and does it all on the prop. You will just have to experiment with props until you find the right match. 10-4 and 10-5 is a good place to start for initial flights and set up.If you have any questions, checking in with someone that has a lot of experience with them is best and  even better if you can fly with someone that has one also.
  Good luck and have fun!
