Title: What plans do you want to see published? Here are 2 that I'd like to see....
Post by: Scott Richlen on April 02, 2016, 04:43:26 PM
How about the GEO-Star and the Genesis Extreme?  I find them both to be beautiful ships.  I really wish that Stunt News would publish them since there haven't been that many stunt designs published lately (I still think back fondly to when Flying Models had a new Jack Sheeks design almost every month.)

One other issue: I like Cadillacs!  Why do I say that?  Because you can immediately recognize a Cadillac.  Unfortunately, like many car designs, a lot of today's stunt ships look similar except for the paint job.  I think that the GEO-Star and the Genesis Extreme both stand out due to the wing/tail outlines and their respective fuselage profiles.  It is nice to see "different" once in a while.  I suspect that's also why the warbird-based stunt ships are always popular.  My 2 cents.

I think that Bob Hunt should get them published since he is related to both ships (father of one and grandfather of the other) and he edits Stunt News.  It's a perfect fit!  (Of course, he's a might busy - hope he doesn't mind too much my volunteering him.) ;D

Look at it this way: the GEO-Star is in the Werwage lineage (and every Werwage design should be published, even if he didn't design it) and it is a Nats Champ (1995 Nats and a Bronze Medal at the World Championships in China.... and again, every Nats Champ should be published).

And the Genesis Extreme is the latest and greatest in the Genesis line.  Why not publish a thoroughbred?

I bet Bob would supply plans. Parts as well, if you are inclined.

The Geo Star looks like it could easily be built from Geo XL plans that are available.

Not sure what the differences are but from the photo the only thing I can see is the slightly different rudder shape.

The Geo XL is a great flying airplane.

Photo is of my Geo XL!

Geo-Star looks very similar to the "Pentastar" designed by Lou Wolgast. It is kitted by RSM and can be built either .46 size or .60 size. On my list fer-shur!  8)

The GEO-Star has not been published and plans aren't available (I checked).  Hopefully, that is: plans aren't available, yet.  It is smaller than the GEO-XL (think maybe LA-46 powered - but Bob Hunt would probably specify an electric system).  I like the GEO-XL, but it is a little too large for my tastes - thus my interest in the GEO-Star.

My original Silver Lancer design was based on Genesis 46 numbers.  And the Genesis Extreme cannot be mistaken for anyone else's airplane.

Thus my campaign to get both published in Stunt News.  Hopefully enough of you are interested that Bob would see it as worthwhile.

I always loved Bob Gieseke's Boltin Bear and would love to see it publishes.

I very much agree with you there. EVERY Nats champ should be published. Hey, you win the Nats you get published. Also a date with Kim Kardashian- oh wait she's married-forget that.

Chris:

I'm not sure that the plans for the Quasar were ever published, but I think that there is an unpublished version (hand-drawn?) that is floating around.  Ask Tom McClain if he has/can make you a copy.

I would like to see Mario Rondinelli's "Venus" published.  His plane was designed to fly in windy weather.

Mario Rondinelli's VENUS plans are available from Tom Dixon.  Great looking, super flying ship!

Has anyone built  a Venus lately?  How about posting some pictures?

I remember seeing it in American Modeler many years ago and thought it was superb!

Didn't Pete Petersen build a Venus some years back?

Interesting thread.   I have a couple of very nice unpublished designs in my collection,  both built by Les Nering.   One is the Quetzal, built for the 1993 Nationals I believe and I think the nicest flying model I've ever flown (but I'm no expert).   I don't have pictures available right now but can get some if anyones interested.  It spans about 60" and uses a piped OS .40.

The other plane is an unnamed model built by Les in 1989.  It spans about 50" and was built around an ST .46.   I haven't flown it myself yet but I have a 46 to put in it to try out at some point.  I will try to insert pictures of it.

Indeed, he did. Started with a Brodak .40, but last season put a .46LA in it. Then, the LG was too short, so last mod was to put a CF LG in it. Not sure if that got done or not, but maybe sometime soon. I don't know where the plans came from, but the LG per plans is way too flexible and weenie. Pete has another name for it; rhymes with Venus, however.  H^^ Steve

Did Mario Rondinelli ever design anything besides the Venus, or was it a "one hit wonder"?
