Bill,

Thanks for the info,  David smith has the engine from family friend, have entire ign setup, coils, battery , etc, even extra.  Piston cyl, head and flywheel , he also has extra backplate, that has no intake,

I guess it was some type of 2  speed  setup

Some features look somewhat like Atwood, but not a "Champion".  This one would be much earlier.

Don't try to run it without plugging the unused crankshaft intake

Thanks for the help and good advice, I will plug the lower venturi, without damaging the case, compression is very good, , engine will be checked out , , plan is  to bench run only right now, just enough to get a video back to he original owner, .

If we cannot get the ignition to function  properly , what would be a recommendation  to get  engine running  on glow fuel , or  is it not capable  of handling the glow fuel.

It looks much like an 1940 Atwood Blue Crown Champion 60, the father of the Atwood Champions.  It was a race car or marine engine.  I wouldn't run it and I sure wouldn't run it on glow.  There aren't many of these around

If you run it, why not run it on both carbs. as was originally intended?
