What is it? pics.
« on: April 14, 2008, 01:41:34 PM »
I got this stunt engine from the Late John Davis, what is it? The embossed lettering goes something like this;  PAQYlA 7 (the 5th letter is like a capital T with the left part of the T gone, or like an upsidedown capital L). It is brand new, never been ran, and I probably will never put it in anything, it looks like it would make for a good motor for a stunt ship tho. Thanks everyone.

Blessings
Allen

Russkie. Raduga. 7cc? Should have silencer. Usually feel quite good but apparently not all that good.

Raduga - Russian for "fishing sinker"   About all it is good for.

Yes! And filled with lead, it would make a wonderful fishing sinker... LL~ Steve

I have an Akrobat .42 which is a VERY good stunt engine, very similar to the ST 46.  The Akobat is what the Soviet Stunt Team was using in the late '60s, early '70s.  Sirotkin's Ilushyn (his last competitive stunter) from 1969 had the Akrobat .42.  The Raduga is supposed to be very similar, but I have not seen, nor run one.  I also have heard it is not as well made as the Akrobat......

Dennis; The majority of it was bought by a friend of mine here in Muncie, Lew McFarland's Shark, one of Charlie Lichliter's (not spelled right I'm sure) Ballerina, and much, much more. Some of the engines were sold to different people, but Dick bought all the airplanes, engines and accessory's.  If you would like to see them, let me know the next time your in Muncie and I'll take you out. He has about 100 airplanes hanging, and a engine collection of some 200 plus engines, R/C and (mostly) C/L. plus his own paved circle right off the model room.

I will definitely want to take you up on that offer!  I remember first hearing about the collection John's FATHER had accumulated, always wanted to see it.
