Post by: Gerald Arana on October 09, 2020, 07:35:52 AM
Is this one of those finger prop balancer? I got it from an estate find.

Thank you in advance, Jerry

I doubt it is something you want to balance your props on. First, there's no obvious way to center the prop hub ( typically opposing cones). Second, it looks like it is supposed to be held between a finger and a thumb-- an old, crude way of doing it. Get yourself a magnetic or Dubro mechanical balancer. They regularly come up on classifieds or eBay at reasonable prices.

It is a device for truing up the face and back of a prop hub.

Hi Mike, I have two prop balancers, a Dubro and a magnetic one. I like the magnetic best because it is the most sensitive.

Dan, That looks right to me. I couldn't figure out why the sand paper and now I know!

Thank you. Jerry

If that is a balancer then I think we may know how the original owner died.   LL~

Dan has it right.
