Very nice, Softail Custom, a classic ride.  Mid to late Ninety's, correct?
I always liked the lines of that bike.

Yep; It is a 99, last of the EVO motors. A really fun bike to ride. She is just getting broken in with only 17,000 miles on it. At my age I am just a put put guy, and that is what this thing does best. Fifty to fifty five on the back roads is what I like. It does make you smile just like flying old sparkers in C/L.

Randy; That old Indian is eye popping. It reminds me of the 1942 "45" Harley I had when I was in highschool. It had the big buddy seat, windshield, and bags like yours. If I remember right, the Harley had the gear shift on the left side. What year displacement is the Indian? Really nice Shovel also. I always liked the sound of the shovels. Just a little different than anything else.

Well its not mine but i built it!
i built this bike for a guy a few years ago.
i usually do street rods and muscle cars but it sounded interesting so i built it for him
it started out as a sportster and i built a new frame from the swing arm forward and reused the original neck so the numbers remained.
he still rides it all the time
this is the before paint test fit and ride pictures.
i painted it gloss black frame and satin black rear fender and tank
sort of old school look but with a soft tail ride.

What year model is that Indian Chief.  Right hand shift, no gear stops, left hand throttle, right hand spark advance.  I tried to ride a 1948 Indian 80 when I was in high school; barely able to get it around the block without wrecking it.  Decided I'd stick with my 1948 Harley '45.

The maroon Chief is a '48, 74 CID, Glen, there was no 80 in '48, but if you look down at the bottom at the small picture you'll see my '50 Blackhawk Chief, 1950 was the first year for the '80. This one just happens to be an X-Pennsylvania state police bike. Indian used no gear stops, there were detents in the trans lid. Took a little getting used to, but I like it much better then a side shift Harley.

The Chubblehaid is destined to become a Bobber. I got this from my best biking freind's estate, was missing the front head and needed a top end. So I found some heads on *bay and did it up. Runs like stink with the S&S Super E. It also has some mild cams in it I think, its just a little too lopey and quick for a STD 80. Just finally got all the leaks under control today, I'm going to register it this week and start shaking it down.

I stand corrected.  The one I tried to ride probably was a '74 CID.  All I remember is that everything backwards from my Harley, it sure was a handful.  BTW, my first bike was a Famous James, I think it was a '47 or '48.  As I recall, it was a twin cylinder, 2 cycle, with the two pistons, which had their own cylinders, although they moved up and down together, and shared a common combustion chamber.  Wierd!
