In my shop today I turned on the heat.
Then framed up the wing for my 2nd 1/2A Pathfinder. The first one has a Norvell .061 and flys great on 45' lines, corners like a combat ship. This 2nd one will have the Norvell.074, hoping to go out to 52' lines..
Allen,
FYI - I have built a few 1/2A P'Finders and flown a few hundred 1/2A Pathfinder flights w/ Norvel .061's, Galbraeth head, two shims and a Nelson plug. I agree, Great combo. [See Photo Gallery, District 5, row 17 1st pic and Row 19 far right]. To keep the plane light (under 11.25 oz) and obtain proper balance without adding tail weight, I trimmed 1" off the nose and moved engine back. Just checked weight of my Norvel .061's and .074's with with factory mufflers and spinners.
the .074's weigh 2.8 oz, the .061's weigh 1.9 oz, for a .9 oz diff. If I were to use an .074, I would locate the fuel tank on the inboard side and move engine back about 3" (rough calcs) based on previous model weights)).
Just some info to consider, your results may vary.
