What a usefull...
« on: April 01, 2010, 04:02:32 PM »
Tool this site is.

I've been on this site for a little over 3 years now trying to motivate myself to get building again. I have gone to the GSCB field for the last 4 years on New Years Day and got a flight in per year. Before that, 1988 a few flights, and did a lot from 70-79. Okay, I finally pulled the trigger after the New Year and started building. No fancy stunt ships or anything too difficult. So far we have completed, a flight streak, Gotcha sx460, and a Super Satan. Also have a flight streak jr. and baby flight streak framed for my sons(12&6). They are next for finishing. Anyway, I found this site to be so helpful that I just wanted to thank Sparky and all of you for all the great information on this site. So much I knew was forgotten over the years and so much has changed. There was a never a surprise when building, whether it was bushing a bellcrank, finding a pacifier....... or most importantly finishing a model. On the Flight streak I even used carbon veil with great confidence and success by going through the database (and Bob Hunt's Hole shot article) that is supplied by the search engine on this site.
This forum is blessed with a lot of helpful and talented people, just like this hobby. I just wanted you to know it has made the pain of being retreaded very satisfying.
For those that are new to this site. There is a great deal of information already here, and if you cant find it, someone will always help you!
Oh, and let's not forget about the personalities of these guys. Man, you guys crack me up!

Tm, glad to hear you getting the bug again.  Now with the boys, have they soloed yet?  If not, take it from me that you get a one of the other guys to help you nd them.  I see you have qute a few projects going and I am going to suggest that you slow down a bit.  Also once the boys get the bug don't let anything stop you from flying unless it is wind or rain.  Welcome back and keep having fun. :) #^ #^ #^ H^^

Thanks for the advice Doc. Concern of burn out is always an issue. I just know I have about another 3 weeks before things start getting crazy around here with both boys playing Baseball.  I am embarrassed to say they have not flown yet. I figured this year whenever we have some down time we can run out and get a few flights. Once i get the 2 fightstreaks done I plan on slowing down and just spending a hour or two in the shop a night.

Thanks,
Tom
