What a day again
« on: June 01, 2017, 08:42:35 PM »
Yes it has been over a month since I've had a handle in my hand.   Was going out yesterday but the weather was finicky.   So today I went after granddaughter got home from work.   Gave me time to patch covering on my Ringmaster/Fox 35 combo.  First flight did most of the pattern and then the Fox went rich.   Tried two more flights and thought I had it but on flight 2 it went rich again and third flight landed up side down and bent needle valve.  All spares were at home in the shop.   So I put up a flight on the Fokker.  Won't win any stunt contests be is a lot of fun.   Then I got the Ringmaster Flash flying with Medallion 15 and Mecoa head conversion.  Still need to needle it a little more.

To show you how finicky the weather is here in Shawnee it was raining when I got up.  Granddaughter drove the Suburban to work.  She gets home and the sun is shining and I head for the field.   Its raining when I get there  and I sat it out as I could see blue skies to the west.   Finally the sun came out and I started flying.   Came home after running out of water and it getting dark.  Did I say I was having fun. #^ #^ #^

Good going, Doc. I'm glad you had the patience to wait the weather out.

Hey, Will Davis sent me an old copy of our club newsletter, The Pitts Special, with a great picture of you getting an award, and a bunch of other good articles with pics and mention of a lot of you guys with interesting planes and stories. I'll compile it and post later this weekend.

please post pic of the Medallion head conversion. I found Sportsman 15 among my misc engines, and a TD 15 ( not sure which version). Original COX style glowhead roo expensive, but maybe  would look at conversion and put one in a Perky or Jr Ringmaster.

Lyle, go to the MECOA site and look under accessories.   Oh that has been a few years ago when Charlie called my name for that award.  One of several I have received at VSC through the years.   Sure miss being there.

That KOF trophy made a really nice champagne bucket.  At one dinner party, I filled it with ice and 2 bottles of bubbly.  It also made a nice conversation topic.  Too bad I only got to keep it for one year.

Same with the GMA Award as I was first recipient and had to return it.   I do have my Jack Sheeks award hanging in a prominent place in the shop.  Also got ribbed by the late and great Wild Bill Netxband when I got an award for an unusual model award.   Flew his Goldbrick design.  So many memories through the years of competition all around this great land of ours.  But, most important are the friends and people I have met  H^^ H^^ H^^
