Mr Hunt was pretty quick and correct, it's a Saito 62 with the reverse cam from a 120 twin. Only flew it twice today, wind was boiling over the trees and not conducive to trying a new trim setup. First impression is I need to move the leadouts forward about 3 inches and I think my right arm is at least 1/2 inch longer than it was before.
The airplane is a kit bashed Sig Somethin'Extra I built 3 years ago, ended up (for many reasons) not living up my expectations and being put on the shelf. The fuselage is painted with Lusterkote, wings are covered with Monokote. Monokote turned into rinklekote as did the Lusterkote, then the canopy melted in this wonderful Oklahoma sun. Anyway it was already set up for a Saito so drug it out to do test bed duties for my backwards running 62. I'll be flying and trimming this weekend and should be able to provide a better flight report. About all I can say now is it really shows potential.
Peter, You might want to wate till you have seen one of my Saitos run before saying muffler preasure doesn't work on a 4 stroke. The cg is fine it just looks odd with the Saito sticking out the front so far, one of the reasons I hung it up was because I didn't like the way the nose turned out. If it ends up flying half way diecent I'll have to do something with the nose.
The prop is a 13-6 only because they didn't have a 13-7, just as well as the 13-6 is looking like it will work just fine. Launched at 8200, 5.0 second laps on 63 foot lines trying it's best to pull me off the center pad.
This was taken before it turned into a prune..
