Title: What's this one?
Post by: ChrisSarnowski on February 07, 2015, 04:39:24 PM
I just spotted this on Craigslist, what do you think it is? The wingspan is claimed to be 62 inches.

It looks like the long, lost Ultimate Stunter, otherwise known as the Missing Link! You never know what may turn up on Craig's List. I found the add and checked out the other pictures. Add calls out McCoy engines bu they are Fox engines, most likely .35s. In my area, model stuff doesn't move very fast, so I watch the adds and try to snag a deal. If it's still listed in a week or two, offer him 40 bucks for the model, pull the engines and chuck the airplane or make it a hanger queen. Soak the Foxes in ATF for a week then heat gun them. Today I came across a green Cox Stuka. A family a few blocks from me taking advantage of the nice day to clean the garage. It's dirty, box in poor shape, but model is 90% complete and in good shape with all canopy pieces. Gonna clean it up and service the engine soon.
A month or so ago, I answered an add for some model airplanes and I could tell from the pictures it was an F&B Stinger, and a Jim Walker Firebrat with a nice McCoy .19 in it. The Stinger has an engine that is a Fox of some flavor, have to take the cowl off to find out what but looks like a combat special Fox. 40 bucks for the pair. Both barn fresh. Neither had been flown but look pretty well built. The Firebrat will get some TLC and will get a flight or two, and the Stinger will get a good looking over but may be able to get refinished. The best I have scored recently is a Ringmaster with a Fox .35, Fox Combat Special, and a bunch or related misc for 20 bucks. An older couple looking to clear the house that day so they could move!
Makes me wonder what all may still be lurking out there in basements, attics, closets and garages? How much ends up in the trash?
  Type at you later,

Hi Chris, You may just want to run over there, after the snow is down some, to check it out! I can't imagine that it would be much of  flyer but it sure is a conversation piece! The engines appear to have a bunch of attic dust as does the rest of the unit! Once its been run down let us all know just what happened to this "Beast"!

Hey Guys,

I saw the Fox engines, on it too. For some reason it caught my eye, I dunno, maybe I was dropped on my head when I was a baby. I think someone enjoyed making it. Sleek and black, looks a little evil.

There was someone advertising 20-30 airplanes last week for $500. With snow and everything didn't get around to checking it out. Not that I need or have room for that much stuff, but there might have been something interesting in there. I spotted a flight streak twin in the photos.

Hmm, that would be a fun one to restore. Let's see, clean it up and do a German WWII paint scheme and... y1

Might be an optical illusion, but it looks like nothing is aligned with anything on it. I concur with dad: try to snag it cheap, hang up the model and salvage the motors.
