My latest is a Still Stuka Stunt.
I'm going to try my hand at silkspan and dope on this one.

I've built a couple of these in the past and with an FP .20 they are more than awesome.

As she sits right now, with motor, tank prop and wheels, she weighs just under 28 oz. ready for primer and final finish.

The Still Stuka is classic legal, Old Time legal and should be quite competitive in Clints .25 event. I hope to have it done by then.

Finishing up the "Challenger 575" here at the "Aeroworks". It's an enlarged 50" span, .35-.40 size version of Keith Sandberg's "Challenger .15"

I finally got around to finishing all of the silkspan work just the other night. After another coat two of clear and a little touch-up sanding it'll be ready for paint...

After the "575" gets finished it'll be back to work on this one...I think.

It was an ARF Nobler kit... VD~

Well, it's been quite a while since I have posted, but Paul since you asked: My version of Bob Whitely's classic Hawker Hunter. Started Feb. '12 and just now, Feb. '14 got final colors and two coats clear. All dope Sig, except gold stripe and checkerboard and candy apple blue for canopy is Brodak). Power will be Ro-Jett .67. Tom Niebuhr did the paint masks for me. They worked perfect. Lots of detail on the checkerboard, but the masks cut the work down considerably. I pulled the paint scheme off the web of the British bird G-Veta. I used an all silver base coat that was then lightly covered with dark blue to give the deep look I wanted. May get her in the air this spring!

Fancherized, Genesis-ised Twister.  Which is a saga, mostly because the build has involved more outside interruptions than actual building.  http://stunthanger.com/smf/index.php?topic=27915.0 (http://stunthanger.com/smf/index.php?topic=27915.0)

I may actually get it primed or even painted this week.

This just came off my paint stand, it's currently still stinky, so will need to wait a little longer before a cut and buff, and some decals.

It's an Oriental that got shrunk in the wash slightly  ;D

Do you plan to shoot clear over the decals?

Larry, no I don't. I've made the mistake of doing that before, and then selling the model and watching the guy ruin the finish getting my numbers off.
I don't have to worry too much about fuel proofing them, as they won't see much fuel at all. 8)

Everyone knows what I am doing but here is 2 shots of the color. Now the fun begins. I am racking my brain and searching the web to find a trim scheme that will be worthy of the front row. Derricks act will be hard to follow but I do thank you for showing me what I have to compete against. I am sure what ever I can find will work but I want to catch your eye. So onward in my search.
By the way did I say I hate grey airplanes? Well I do but it was light.

Robert,

You detailed the canopy line over the hatch. But you know this.

Clever.

My good flying buddy Bryon built these two planes over the winter. He now has a fleet of Twister, 4 or 5. He also has a few more of Walter's kits to build.

He is learning how to build from one of the best. (I'm trying to learn from him too)

On the bench, a 96% Geo XL.

 Huh? What's the other 4%? ;D
Title: Re: What's on your build table or paint stand?
Post by: wwwarbird on February 21, 2013, 08:34:46 PM
The other 4% is air. It was modified to not have a tuned pipe, this a smaller fuselage. I didn't name it, I just bought the kit and am building it. Lew Rankin flies one over in Memphis. Nice looking and great flying plane.  H^^

Hmm, I was actually just kidding with that question Ty. So the non-piped version is actually called a 96%er? Didn't know that one... D>K

Here's what I've been working on this winter. Re-build on my dad's late 60's Hoyt Cat-Jet powered by a Dyna-Jet redhead. The remains of a Brodak Pathfinder wing turned into a combat plane. An M & P Nemesis II, A Brodak Galaxy (wing built by my friend Walt Bowden) A profile stunter using Phils cores (built by Larry Davis painted by me)

Have to say that I loved that jet.
One day I'm going to do one.
I think that's the craziest one can get in CL.
All the models look great!!
