For the last 15 years Buy Fly 'n Win has been the adopted approach Downunder..

I personally would throw up in my mouth If I showed up to a contest with a plane I didnt build..

May as well get someone else to fly it.. whats the difference??

If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them.” - Bruce Lee.

Be kind enough to remember that our Nationals is an AMA contest. Events flown by the AMA Rulebook are a strong reason for AMA to put up with many events of "moderate" participation year-round: They ARE AMA Rulebook events...

Dropping the traditional Rulebook wording for this one occasion a year seems a bit much. Explain to AMA that our most important event at THEIR Nationals will NOT be a basic OFFICIAL AMA event?

We could change the basic CLPA rules, of course, but do we need to? Gone also would be the Walker Trophy fly-off and  the National Age Category Championships... Or should we change those, too, denying the 70+ year tradition?

Who will start the campaign to do all this? How far would it get? PAMPA Skill Class rules have allowed OP airplanes to compete, with loss of Appearance Points, since the mid-1970's. And PAMPA Classes rules ARE AMA Rulebook events, and technically OFFICIAL, but not qualified for the Walker, or (age-category) Championship selections. Those are traditions counting many, many years,  as are so many of our fellow CLPA fliers... ever wonder what a simple average of our ages might be? Add all our ages and divide by how many of us there are?

51 responses to this post (so far) shows that we are not finished discussing the BOM topic.
Discussion on this and any stunt topic is healthy.  I read all of them to understand how others feel about a subject.

You're limited only by your imagination, which in my case is pretty limiting.  So far, I've done spinners, vortex generators, handles, line reels, odd B-36 parts, and some 5" bellcranks (picture), which I've tested to 150 lb. Carbon-filled filament is now available, which will make stiffer parts. I have only messed with ABS and some Igus slippery stuff for leadout guides.

Boy Howard, those sure look like fishing lures! Just put a little bend in them with a hook attached and Voila! Go catch a fish!  LL~ LL~ LL~
