Weird Problem on Stunthangar
« on: September 03, 2010, 08:32:59 PM »
Does anyone else have this happen? When making a post that is larger then the visible text window, after the post hits the bottom, the text will not stay still, it scrolls up and I can't see what I'm typing, if I scroll back down to it, the instant I type a letter, it jumps back up.

Any body???

Randy-

I had exactly this problem a few months ago. One of the members told me what to do. I believe there is a thread on the solution, but I think that the solution was to just click on "Tools" and check "Compatability View". 'hope I'm correct. Try that.

It is. I had the same problem a few months ago and I thought it was just my stupid computer. The problem went away on it's own.

YES! Thank you for bringing this up-I've fought the same problem with no idea how to fix it. I just tried Serge's suggestion and it worked. Thank you Serge! H^^

OK, I give up.  Where is the tools button?

 Dick,

Not on here on the site, the "Tools" option is a computer function usually found across the top of your screen somewhere on what I think is called your task bar. Look around across the top of your screen and you should see it.

"I see," said the blind man. HB~>

Brett, I use FireFox, but not the latest version.  It seems every time I upgrade to the latest and greatest, some undesirable feature comes with it.  I have gone backwards at least once before.

That being said, I might try the newest.

It wasn't your stupid computer, it was your stupid browser.

Once again: do what Brett said.

I use Firefox also and hate it every time it is up graded.
BUT if you do not up grade then all sorts of stuff starts working funny(Video and so forth)
This could be partly due to reduced security(with out up dates) but also because you fall behind the developments and changes in what we call the 'Net"

This is a possibly related item that has recently been discovered.
Research indicates is more than just this

"So You Think They’re Not Watching Your PC?"
http://www.zerohedge.com/article/so-you-think-they%E2%80%99re-not-watching-your-pc

There are ways to stop or control this
Mozilla has an add on to do it.

Google Chrome is excellent for using and ties up very little memory.Fast.
With Al Gore being on Google's board and owning part of it as well as being a chief adviser for Google----well that makes my trust in Google not very high.

We also have a Model Airplane site that will add malicious programs and cause crashes.
This same site will also hack your email(recently documented)
I have learned to stay away from RCGroups.

The internet is an on going battle and you either pay a so called expert to fix( and they tend to set up their own little gremlins) or learn some of it and do your best! Time consuming.

Flash cookies

For those that run Firefox/Mozilla and would like to stop Flash player adds from playing this is supposed to do that.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/433/

Still looking for something to find and remove the Adobe file that has the Super cookie/ Flash cookie thing.

Adobe claims that if you go here
http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager09.html
That you can remove their Spy ware/ad-ware, they don't call it that but it is.

The control panel on the web page is an actual control panel for your computer?!?!?!?Fishy to me.
I remover several hundred from mine...supposedly
I set it where it is not supposed to allow the program to reinstall but not sure this is true yet.

Some research says it reinstall as soon as removed and some say it is installed every time Adobe and or Adobe flash is up dated.

This "program" was only discovered a month or so ago by I think it was Berkly, so not a whole lot is known yet.
At least this was the case when I checked into it.

Not a real problem for me as I try to avoid any personal info on line and ZERO transactions of $$$ on line.
If they can't sell it to me on the phone they can't sell it to me.
The real problem I have is barely noticeable computer slowdown and the fact that information that I would probably give if asked is being taken with out asking.
I just funny that way...

My FireFox browser doesn't have compatibility view under tools.

Because it's not broken, so there's no legacy bugs to be compatible with.

May be user or IP related, but I have never been happy with firefox.  Once it, or something not campatible with it, or something exploiting it jammed my machine up so bad I couldn't surf the web at all.  Uninstalled firefox and went back to IE and resolved a plethera of problems.  My daughter uses firefox with little or no problems, she quit using IE altogether.

Had similar problems with Firefox at first.
Seems that if I opened it while traffic was blocked it would auto check the work off line option under file tab.
Un check and all fine.
Seems it stopped doing that after awhile.

Pat
I am sure a couple JB's Mods would love to know the answer to that question.

You made the claim ???

FWIW, I spend way too much time on RCG.
I have not seen any problems on my computer as a result.

Pat
Missed your post until now. Apologies.

Yep, I did say that didn't I.
And if and when I decide what and how if ever to do something with this I will try to remember to let you know.

And yes I agree some people do spend to much time on RCG and particularly LTUP.

As long as you don't step on the childrens toes or if you are part of their group you will not have any problems there.

So that's all I will say about this on this fine site of Roberts and any further conversation on this should be on LTUP.
There have been threads on this in the past or start a new one there.
Leecy,ChopHop, Peter or Eljimbo, Bilbo, Moe, and others, they should be able to help. Entertainment at its finest.

That's about all I can do to help you on this, for now.
PM if you need to.

David
