I don't know if this is old news, but my cousin forwarded it to me.
Dear Webra Customer,
We are so sorry to announce you that our company
WEBRA Modellmotoren GmbH & Co. KG in A-2551 Enzesfeld, Eichengasse 9 - AUSTRIA
is in bankruptcy and cease to Thursday, December 23, 2010 its activities for model engines and electronics products.
The reason why this happens was the low cost products made in China which comes more and more for toys as for the real model building. Therefore found the market lower and lower interest in our high quality products.
By this way we will thank you for your good co-operation in past and we will wish you all the best and many business success in future.
Remain with
„Many happy landings“
Yours WEBRA-Team

Dick,
There are 2 long threads on this at RC Universe all decidedly unhappy over Webras demise. It is just becoming an all to familiar story of companies not being able to compete against the Asian labor pool.

Oh Man! That is sad. Back in the 70's the Webra was king in R/C pattern. Then along came the YS engines.

My very first engine:

Sigh, sigh. Now my Gold Head Webra 40 is probably worth something, even without a box.

Still have some Webra .28s and a very good Webra .32 set up for stunt. One of the .28s is Aaron's and was a gift from Bobby which he used in the Tucker Special he published. Bobby could never really get the .28 to work mounted inverted like he wanted, but it goes like gang busters in a profile like the RD-1!
The Webras work good and its a shame they are already "gone down the tube".
