I think something is amiss with customer service there. I just tried to order a ultimate spinner with a electric back plate and got such a run around by the person on the phone I will never order from them again.

Sparky,

I talked directly to Bob Obenberger and he made a turbo cool black anodized spinner for me. I needed a flat black spinner in the nose that will simulate the radome on my jet type stunter project. I had to tell him what prop I would be using. Then some one will also send you a form to confirm the air flow direction before they cut the parts. It only took a couple weeks for the special order.

I would suggest that you ask for Bob or have him call you back if he is not available.

I could not have had a better experience.

Robert,

I've been doing business with them for years and years. I offer Tru-Turn graphics!

Everyone deserves a second chance. Just like the movie, "Seabiscuit."

Please give them a call back, I know of no one else that makes a finer spinner.

That is a matter of opinion, I also have had issues dealing with Tru-Turn. Now just order Brodak spinners and make my own mods and cut outs.

Well Bob,

I truly believe it's not a matter of opinion.

Did you read what I said? Doesn't look like you did.

I'll say it one more time.

Tru-Turn is a retailer like Brodak, but Tru-Turn actually "makes" spinners. Brodak sells a fine spinner but doesn't "make" them.

So my reference was to someone who actually "makes" spinners.

I'm not plugging Tru-Turn because of my relationship with them. In fact, I have no relationship with them, I pay what you pay. They probably charge me more.  ;D

But they do "make" them and not buy them from a supplier then just sell the item at retail.

Now, if someone knows another "manufacturer" of a spinner, as good as the ones Tru-Turn makes, then possibly the Thread should be moved to the  Debate-Zone.  LL~ LL~ LL~

  Hey Chuck;
How do you know Brodak doesn't make their own? All it takes is equipment and a CAD program. Even if they are just a vendor, some one makes them for them to their specifications. Just like graphics, how do we know you make your own? You shouldn't brow beat someone just because they have an opinion or a personal preference that differs from yours.
I have used the house spinners from Great Planes and units from Maxx Products and I would rate them as good as Tru-Turn and not as expensive. The big difference is Tru-Turn does custom orders and the others don't as far as I know. But what good is that service if they make it hard for the customer to order what they want.
   Just curious,

Dan,

"Brow beat?

What are you talking about?

Oh, you mean like the way you "brow beat" me constantly for all those years?  LL~ LL~ LL~

You must really miss it since Robert put the hammer down. Was this your opportunity?

Robert stopped the abuse but I know quite well the feelings are still there.  ;D

Get control of yourself. There's no "brow beating" with my reply and my guess is you really don't have to answer for Bob.

Like I said, maybe the Thread should be moved to the "Debate-Zone.

Type back at you,

Charles

Edited just for Dan.

Go ahead, do your homework.

Sparky,
What was the run around about?
They are very precise in wanting to know what prop you are using and the direction of run to be able to cut the vanes on the backplate with the right pitch.

Dave Brown makes, sells, markets, produces, pops them out of thin air Aluminum Spinners.
Not Electric specific, but they can be custom ordered in several styles.

There are many spinners available made be the individuals or to their specs. We are very lucky for this.

If this is going to be another war of "words" let's end it right here.

I was dissatisfied with Tru Turn, too.  They made me a nice anodized spinner cut for my prop, but I never got the right stuff to mount it on my motor.  I gave up, and they refunded most of my money.

"Motor" or "Engine"? For the later, I've mostly used DB adapter stuff, ordered from Tower. Sometimes, I had to modify it, sometimes not. When ordering an adapter nut, always get the short one with the counterbored washer. Getting a longer screw is easier than cutting down the length of the too-long adapter nut. Plus, while going to get the longer screw at Ace Hardware, you can detour past the DQ and get a cone or shake!  #^ Steve

I just had a bit of a rough-spot with TruTurn as well.  Two issues.  1) They're not responding to emails sent to the address on their web site.  In my opinion, quick response to email is key to a business' success (IMO, within the first business day).  2) I think they have a newbie answering the phones.  The first person I spoke with on the phone didn't seem to have a background on the product or hobby at all.  Fortunately I was later passed to someone who seemed knew what they were doing.  Hopefully I can get my spinner in the near future.

Maybe they're just having a brief rough-spot of their own........

Anybody been to McDonalds, BK, Taco Bell, ect.and they messed up your order?  Do you still go back?

I've done business with tru-turn extensively over the years. Had one or two issues with orders. That doesn't stop me from doing business with them. It's a business run by humans just like any other and sometimes mistakes get made.

PS: if spinners aren't BOM legal, then engines shouldn't be either (boom)

I've dealt with Tru-Turn directly a few times in the past couple of years and have never had any hassles or issues. The quality of their stuff is top notch, a darn nice product.

As Sean says,  Tru-Turn is a business.   From the article in Model Aviation they are a busy company trying to satisfy people.   Yes, I have been to Micky Dees,  Wendy's Wal-Mart and my favorite Steak&Shake.   They make mistakes once in a while, but we still go back.   McDonald's in KC area have buy one get one Big Mac after the Chiefs sacked the quarterback five times yesterday.   Now 7 and 0,  what a turn around.

White Castles and Steak & Shake!  My two favorite fast food places.  I was born and raised in Indianapolis.  I think White Castles were my first solid food.  I remember one day breast milk, and then the next day, White Castles and an orange drink.  Buy 'em by the sack!  I get the frozen ones at Walmart now, but they aren't the same.  No pickle.

We recently came back from a vacation in Florida, where they have S&S.  We ate there 3 times.  What memories!

I've had excellent luck with TT.  One time they misunderstood what I wanted & called me direct on my cell to clear it up .  Quick shipping .
