Title: Weather for Ice-O-Lated in St. Louis on Feb. 26th
Post by: the original Steve Smith on February 23, 2012, 07:06:11 PM
Looks like we will not have Ice this year.  Temps are forecast to be in low 50s! Typical February weather in St. Louis eh?

No precipitation forecast but bring your wind tolerant planes.

See you there!

Steve,

Ben has been counting the days for the last couple of weeks (of course the grandparents are going to be spoiling him for his birthday).  I'm not sure if I'll be flying, busted another knee at work and am preparing to get it repaired.  I am thinking about trying to get through the pattern but am getting that look from Beth (you married guys know what I'm talking about).  Brian will be flying as well.

Looks like I will miss another one.   Still trying to get things in order for the trip to VSC.   Not looking forward to it, as the daughter and grandkids are going too. HB~>

My ear infection is getting better, but not something I want to be outdoors for several days.  Best of luck to the club.  I have three plaques made for the Broken Arrow and will have another three done by September.  James Mills and Brian Harris are taking pictures for me but if you guys have more, send them to me for coverage in Stunt News.

I tried to upload a group shot but couldn't get it to work, not sure why as it was well under size.  Maybe someone else may have better luck.  It was very windy so the turnout was low.

Here is a group shot of the participants and one airplane to prove it was a model airplane contest.

Steve,

I'm glad you were able to get it to post, I tried several times and never could get it to work.

Great picture!  Did anyone dare fly in those 20 mph winds?

John Garrett, Jason Pearson, and Brian Harris each put up one flight in stunt. John actually put up two, one for Profile and one for Expert.  Billy Hughes came down to fly Perky Speed and put up several flights, and so did Bob Arata. That's all I can remember. It was a real teaser of a day. Clear skies and sun shinning brightly, but the wind had a real bite to it. I was trying to get over a long lingering cold, still am sort of, and just didn't want to risk a model. It was good to get out and see some of my flying buddies though, even if we didn't fly!
  Type at you later,

Thanks for the report Dan.  Sorry you weren't feeling up to "Committing Aviation"   LL~

Thanks to those who braved the winds and made a contest!
