I just wish everybody would put their name and location in their profiles. It really would be a good thing, and no harm can come from it! See to it, wouldja, Bill?  LL~ Steve

Been trying to do that since we opened shop.  But for some strange reason there are some really nice guys here who don't want anyone else to know where they are! ?? ?? ??  (I do know everyone's real name as an admin, but I can't let them out!)

Have been wondering why this forum seems to be slow to load latley, seeing this thread made the light bulb come on. The links to the Weather info are not working so our computers are waiting for something that won't happen. I tried to warn Sparky about making things too fancy and the 1000 pound elephant it could turn into.

Just tried pulling up the www.citywx.com main site and it seems to be gone.. Maybe they closed up shop.. The Weather links need to be removed from the forum software.

Bill,

It was nice being able to look up everyone's name in their profile, but someone fixed the software, so I can't do that anymore. :(

Never understood why some people, particularly members of special interest forums like this, need to hide behind screen names?

Bob,

I'm going to remove the zip code from my profile, to see if that has any effect on the slow loading. With no zip code found, the software should skip the weather site connection routine, right?

Bill

Edited to add results. I didn't use a stopwatch, but I see a significant reduction in load speed! Give it a try folks!

I too can't understand why people are afraid to let others know where they live.  How are we going to bug our neighbor if we don't know he is there.  I can understand it on the other forum that still exists, but, every one should know who I am by now.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday
