That's seriously cool!!  Unfortunately, next weekend I'll be scurrying around in the wooded areas seeking opportunity to fill an elk tag with my muzzle loader. Missed a big bull last year, but I was able to shoot a cow. First ever success on elk!
I want a second try at that bull.....

Well, we don't have elk around here.  But we do have paper targets.  Here is my home-made .45 caliber muzzle loader putting holes into paper targets.

Jim Carter, I understand the body issues. Last year I packed that thing out all by myself. Was able to load it all on my cart, but then had to pull a 300lb cart 3/4 mile to the truck, predominately uphill. I'm only 165 lbs....and at 56 I'm not as youthful as I once was. LOL!!!

Hang on Gary, you ain't seen nuthin' yet!!  (This from 79 yr old who doesn't even hunt rabbits any more!)  I did score two paper targets with my Glock this week, though.  They don't weigh so much when I have to haul them out! LL~ VD~

Jim, ya gotta par-broil them first and then put them over a good charcoal grill heat.  Takes all the "soggy" out of them in about ten minutes. D>K

When we were kids my Dad always got his elk.  I can't tell you how many pounds of elk I hauled out on my back in high school and college.  We were so used to elk that we thought beef "tasted funny".

I've got a nephew that's a natural.  He gets his elk every year.  When no one else can find one, he's tripping over them!

We don't, sadly, have elk here in the east side of the Miss' river, but I order it every time I make a Rockies trip, as well as bison, etc.  We do have an over crowding of white tail deer here, so I get to eat a lot of venison through the year.  Love it.
