Title: We'll restart on Monday...
Post by: builditright on June 19, 2009, 09:00:26 PM
Hi Guys,
To answer the many emails RE: Stiletto progress.

We have not made any progress this entire week due to major electrical problems with the shop.

It appears that after only 4 1/2 years in this building the job that the original "liscensed electrician" did in the shop has had a major failure and was not done up to code causing all new service to be run to the shop to the est. price quote of $2,900.00 excluding any unforseen pitfalls and possible fines that may be incurred if not done correctly "this time"    >:( HB~> HB~>

Was the original inspector asleep on the job.  When I built the new shop it was inspected four times.  The first time was before we could call the power company for an upgrade on a new line from the pole.  The second time after KCP&L did the hookup and new meter.  The third time was after I had did all my wiring in the shop itself.  The final time was to see if I had removed the temporary flourescent light I had hooked up.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

I wired my shop about ten years ago (and yes, it's working fine). But I used the Grumman method. Figure out the maximum the system will need to take .... and double it. Pretty heavy wiring in the thing.   ;D

I rewired my garage 4 years ago. Believe it or not it had a extension cord running suspended across the yard connected at the roof top. I took that down and put in 2- 6/3 with ground direct berry cables and 200 amp box. Works good now. I think the transformer would implode before the wires burnt up.

I know your wondering why such a service? Welding..
