Guy's where are y'all gettin your glow plugs that you uas in your wasp 061 engines, and which ones work the best?

I use merlin plugs with 4 gaskets and 10% nitro fuel and 20% oil. Plugs are also available from coxengines.ca

Is there a particular # in the merlin that you use? I am running 15% N and 20% castor with 5 Syn.

Thanks Garf, I am looking for suggestions/advice as to which plug will work with the nitro content that I showed (15%), and I fly at sea level.

Doug Gaelbreath makes a great head clamp for Nelson plugs, and it fits the Cox .049/.051, Norvel .049/.061, AP Wasp .061, and even the late model OK Cub .049 cylinders made to use Cox size glow heads.
The Nelson heads also give a significient power boost in most cases.

Hello Dane,
The guy who did the superb NVA conversions for the Wasp has stopped doing them. You can always do what I do. Buy a CoxTD 0.049 venturi together with a Texas Timers CoxTD 0.049 NVA. You then need to turn up a bush with the Cox TD venturi thread on the inside of the bush and the outside is the ID of the Wasp "hole" after the R/C carb has been removed, and don't forget a location shoulder on the bush. There is not much material left in the bush, but don't worry. Screw in the TD venturi first (you can use the spacer washers if you feel happier to) together with the Texas Timers NVA assembly. A dab of high temperature silicone on the outside and put the whole assembly into the Wasp. A word of warning, the Wasp venturi locating and holding grub screws are rubbish. Use decent after market grub screws with a point on them. That is all there is to it, works a treat. Oh the bush material is Delrin in my case, use what you have to hand.
I made mine up about 18 months ago and I can't remember the sizes and threads, but if you are able to make the bush, then you will know how to find the sizes!

The TD 049 venturi thread is a standard 1/4" x 32 tpi UNEF(glow plug).
