Title: Ward's 92.5 Saturn
Post by: peabody on March 17, 2018, 05:20:22 AM
I bought a completed plane from Judy.
Ward had built this Saturn @ 92.5%
Power is a Thunder Tiger 36 on a pipe, with side to rear exhaust
I cleaned the fuel tank and ran it a while ago....I am going to fly it this weekend, I hope.
Even at 92.5% it's a big plane.

I wonder if it isn't almost a Europa?

Found my scale...it weighs 54 ounces

That’s a nice plane.  I am looking forward to your flight report.

I only saw Ward fly that a couple of times after he finished it. From what I remember it flew very well, at least from what I could see at those speeds. Ward was old school, he liked to fly at combat speeds, and 2ft off the deck. I was too busy cringing to and cussing to pay much attention to trim quality. Hah! That sat in his hot Florida garage long enough that it (the bolly) may have returned to its original pitch, and depending on what it is, might be a good thing, or might not. Bring your heat gun and pitch gage to the field tomorrow or I'll bring mine, so we can dial in the lap times.
