Had the opportunity to speak with Steven McBride late last week. He and his father, Ruben, are the folks who run the Vegas contest and they do an outstanding job. I was able to attend their first contest and I have to tell you that these guys are totally organized and their contest runs flawlessly. I have ever expectation that their contest in November will also be one of those "don't miss" events.
Since the Chinese Virus is just about put to bed we are now able to travel safely anyone who has the urge to fly in a contest should mark these dates on your calendar. When I spoke with Steven he had not yet solidified a block of rooms at a discount. He will be doing that very soon and will let us all know the venue and room rate. If his last contest is anything to go by the rooms will be close to the contest field and at a very reasonable rate. Las Vegas is a superb location for a C/L contest as there is no air turbulence to worry about, clear skies, low wind and little likelihood of rain. In addition there are almost unlimited things to do after the flying so convincing the significant other to attend is no problem at all. Why not plan a "mini vacation"? You get to fly and hang out with others who are as addicted as you to model aircraft. Your wife and kids get to do all kinds of fun things while you fly then have a nice dinner and take in a show or do other "adult" activities. This contest will be a "winner" in every way you can imagine.
