Check this out on the bay. I have all ready question the seller and only got a thank you. Item 360102850953. I would almost part with mine for that price, but, think it would be worth more if the listing is correct. DOC Holliday

Wow! He bought it in 1955! Ya Right. LL~

Doc,
While the price would be right for a rare find like this, a 1955 Gieseke Nobler with 1957 Green Box plans, I do find myself a bit concerned about the actual contents of the box. I don't recall the packing peanuts in mine.... Best of luck to the seller and even more luck to the buyer.

Some collectors have bottomless pockets when it comes to some items. But, the Gieseke Nobler didn't come to be until the 70's if I remember right. I still have a kit of the Green Box Nobler and the Gieske Nobler in my stash. May have to add another Brodak Nobler to the fix. DOC Holliday

I just tossed an authentic Green Box Nobler green box. Maybe I should try to sell that on ebay?
The box was empty by now.

Kit boxes in good shape are bringing good prices from what I have seen. DOC Holliday

SH gave away one of those kits the we purchased for $100.00. If I remember right it was Crist R. that won it.

I believe Bob won the NATS with one of his Noblers in 1966

Yeah, but the $12,500 car is autographed!

All those tether cars are of collector grade. His prices, considering they are ready to run, are not all that crazy. I've seen the late Dick McCoys collection of cars and the prices he quoted weren't much different.

Maybe - but the Gieske Nobler kit wasn't produced until much later - I think it may have been in the '80s. Well, except for that one kit that the ebay guy has had since 1954 ... LL~

Off topic guys, but does anybody know where I can get a copy of the Berkeley Shoestring drawings that are shown among his other offerings?
Cheers, Geoff

This Gieske Nobler listing says it was bought in 1965 (which I'm sure is not possible) but nowhere does it say 1955, FWIW. If I wanted one for $175, I'd consider this one. But then, I don't buy or sell on eBay.
I would almost bet that the Berkley Shoestring would be available from the John Pond collection, which is owned by AMA. I think the AMA has gotten it organized enough to sell plans. Some of the Pond plans are not great, but the Berkley plans were at least nicely done, so I'd suggest going for it. SIG and Fox both had a go at selling Berkley kits, so there's a chance they might have them kicking around, too. DK^ Steve

Steve,
origianlly it did say 1955, I looked at that auction and snickered, I think someone tipped him off that he was uh, mistaken about when he bought it,,

That eBay seller still has his information all wrong. According to information on my 2 kit boxes I still have, the Gieseke Nobler kit was copyrighted in 1978.. I bought both those kits in 1979 from Don Still for $39.95.. Built the first one the summer of that year and the other one I built in the winter of '79 - '80... You can't trust everything you see on eBay..

The old DOC here is the one who went the seller a note about the listing. I couldn't remember when I built mine. The last I seen of it Leroy CLine was taking it home with him. I had run out of wood props and used a Master Airscrew 10-6 on it. You can figure out why the plane stayed in Pawnee Rock KANSAS. May build the kit I have. Too many planes to build. Have fun, DOC Holliday
PS:Can I bid on the plane and if I win it sue him for false advertising? jeh
PSS:No I wouldn't do that as the starting price is way too high when Umland, Sawyer and others have better kits for the money. jeh
