As we speak Im uploading a couple of Vids of David Rolands S2 Mustang.
I have no detail info as he will have to post about it.
All I can say is that it flew great!
I do apologize for my horrible camera skills as I was only using a cell phone!
Vid's will be up shortly!

Looks good in the air and on the ground. H^^

Jamie,
Sure had fun flying with your Dad and You!
I think the yellow/white turd will need a long rest now. LL~
No biggie though as next up will be the Sig P-51!
Your skill using a phone to make videos is amazing! H^^
I do know how to answer and make calls with mine! LL~
Enjoyed the heck out of the videos.
The airplane really flies good. Tracks good, Just a touch slow on the controls possibly?
The Veco.29 is more power than needed and as light as the airplane is am seriously considering trying a RH McCoy .19.
This is link to build of the 51. http://stunthanger.com/smf/index.php?board=4.0
And more with Jim Kraft's 51 here http://stunthanger.com/smf/index.php?topic=20574.0
Thanks Jamie.

Fuel tank is too low (engine richens inverted). The Veco sounds great! I had an early (K&B made, exhaust port up) on my one and only "Ringmasher". That was between Jr. and Sr. year of HS. Long time 'go. y1 Steve

Looks like it is flying great David. They are a hoot to fly arn't they. Mine is flying flat now and really flying well. Much fun.

Hi David,
Really enjoy watching the videos. Thanks, Jamie!
It looks like the wings are level, that's good. The engine is going fat when it's inverted so the tank needs moving like Steve said. What prop? I would have to go to less pitch I think, to slow it down a touch. As to "slow controls" (doesn't "look" *slow*), feed in some more elevator, open up the handle spacing, touch of tail weight, etc,. and remember you have flaps......... It might seem to turn quicker if you get the airspeed slowed down a bit. You're starting to sound like a combat flier who is starting out in stunt! LL~ LL~ LL~

MAJOR UNDERSTATEMENT LOL!!!! LL~

Hey Jim!
Glad you got it flattened out.
My minds eye is not up to speed after not flying all winter but near as I could tell mine is mostly flat.
Line tension seemed same both directions.
Hey Steve, The fuel tank height has been a puzzle for me ever since getting back into C/L.
Way back yonder when....we mounted center of tank with center of venturi and flew!
The engines our standards or the laws of physic has been mucked with and this no longer works! HB~>
The tank currently is around 3/8th inch above so another 1/8th or so should do the trick.
That old Torp wrong way exhaust probably had a Green head? Great engine on Dads Quickers with the exhaust pointed away but not to good on a Winder. Did you know you can see fire in the exhaust while its running? Loud. LL~
Quote/Bill [You're starting to sound like a combat flier who is starting out in stunt!]
Exactly!!!
The handle I was using has less spacing than small hot rock. The handle is just right for the Chipmunk but a little slow on the 51 and the flight streak.
The prop is a TF 10x4 power point cut down to around 9.75.
Engine is Veco .29
After flying the Flite Streak with the .29 McCoy and how sweet and perfect it ran(1 flight) am tempted to put a McCoy .19 on the 51.........
Lighter weight will help balance and I would be happy with it flying slower! Slower = my current-ahhhh- speed. LL~

HI David,
Don't know just how much the Red Head .19 would slow it down......... you know that the thin airfoil will have to fly fairly "quick" to fly well. Maybe you can run the Veco .29 in a deeper 4 cycle. Just needle it back until the engine just does break when the nose goes vertical. If you are using 60' eye to eye lines, I am thinking 4.8-5.0 is about as slow as you will be able to go. Maybe not, but...... Just judging on past experiences with those planes (Ringmaster S-1, Yak, P-51, Super Clown, Circus King are all about the same). Of course, you can always go to longer lines and let the airspeed climb while flying a slower lap time. Nothing there you don't already know.
You know the Flite Streak is a much better airfoil and will naturally fly well at slower speeds. But then you will adjust as you get to fly more! ;D

Well I did fly it on my shortest set of '60s' (58 eylet)
Will try the longer lines.
I think this is the right answer.
Dang I sure enjoyed flying that McCoy the other day! Possibly the smoothest running engine in along time--for me.

Hi David,
Well, you do know that old George Aldrich was a true believer in the McCoys. He bought out all the remaining stock he could, rebushed the crankcases, chromed the pistons, blueprinted them up and sold a BUNCH as the McGAS. (McGeorgeAlrichSpecial) I have exactly ONE of his .40s. Took me about 15 years to get it. George said the McCoy .40 was the BEST *timed* stunt engine ever made. And if it hadn't been for quality issues, probably MORE NATS would have been won with them. There were several BIG NAME stunt fliers using McCoys in the '60s. More than "most" people like to admit. Run right, and with proper fuel, they give a truly outstanding stunt run. Yeah, I like them, too...... ;D

This was my first time running a McCoy since getting a G-21 .35 for Christmas, was 10-11 years old then.
Wohhha! did that G-21 make some horses per hour VD~
I no longer have that need for speed. LL~
I have a .40 Dykes ring cylinder and piston that I plan to fit to a .35RH case.
Think that I have a nice used K&B .35GH crank and a new K&B rod for it.
Have been thinking this might be a better engine for the Chipmunk than the OS.35s
What you think?

Hi David,
I have put a LOT of the Dykes ring Series 21 pistons into the Red Head jugs. For the .29, .35 and .40, the piston is a direct swap into the Red Head. The jug from the Series .21 won't fit directly into the Red Head in the scenario of the .40 For some strange reason the S-21 jug is slightly larger than the Red Head Jug so for the .40 some machining of the case is needed.
However, the .29 and .35 are direct swaps for the jugs. The timing is identical for both the Series 21 and the Red Heads, as far as I could tell with the timing wheel..
For the .19, things get really screwy if you want to put the dykes ring set up into the Red Head. Testors changed the bolt pattern for mounting the jug to the case on the Series .21. The Red Head .19 only uses two bolts through the jug into the case. The Series 21 made them like the others, three bolts for hold down. Then the wrist pin is fractionally different in dia. and the rods are slightly different, too. SO no "direct swap" there.
I would try to find a Red Head .40 with a worn out piston! Then put your Series 21 piston into it. Nothing needed but to bolt it together. (and use a Frank Bowman ring! ;D )
So far I have run the "Hybrid" .29s, .35s, and .40s with no problems. I have used the jugs from the S-21 when I could, and just the piston in other cases. The best of both worlds. The superb run of the McCoy and the longer lasting ring! (still use a good deal of castor, though.)
If you can pull off machining the Red Head .35 case for the Series 21 .40 jug to fit, then GO FOR IT! (but then some people think I might have been hit in the head too many times! LOL!!)

Bill,
Looks like I will have to go the machining route unless someone has a .40RH case laying around.
Machining was the original plan as I have a few lathes and a couple of milling machines.
I think the valve guide mill is going to come in handy for case bushes.Haven't tried it for that yet.
Hope to do machine work on several McCoy mods and other engine oddities as well as a couple of item for
some of our members.
May have to do some beggin, pleading and trading of hay burners for some odds and ends!
Thanks for heads up on the 19 as that is one of the mods I was going to try! H^^
