Don McClave's "O'toole Tucker" at top,  Randy Powell's Cobra, Doc's Sheeks Spitfire, Clint's VL Chimpunk. The Excalibur is sweet! Whose? Thanks for the pics. Wish I could be there. With any luck at all, maybe again next year.  H^^ Steve

The Cobra came through in one piece. More or less. Man, that plane is work to fly. But at least I got a score.

The appearance judging is something. Some of these planes you really have to see in person. Like Roy DeCamera's Mackey Lark. The thing is flawless. I don't think you could slide a playing card between the spinner and nose ring. Perfect fit, just like all of it.

They were tough points this year.  I got 10 and the Spit looks mucho better than the Nobler I had.  I was happy, DOC Holliday

By most accounts they were a little tougher this year.  Bene Rodriguiz got 14 points for his super aries and the finish was just beautiful.  My friend Warren Walker received 16 points for his beautiful Hawker Hunter he had lots of detail panel lines and a great color scheme.   I don't know of anybody getting 20 points.  Hey Randy great to meet you finally, man can that guy fly!  It is no fun coming back to work today. :(

Andy,

Great to meet you also. And hey, I liked the suit.   ;D

My shoulder feels better now (from actively patting myself on the back for finishing the contest with the plane still on the gear). Man, that thing is a lot of work to fly.

I was most impressed with Bob Hunt's first flight. The wind was howling, it was hot and it would be tough to get an HLG to produce lift. He flew a very credible pattern and looked pretty good. He and Bene were the most fun to watch fly. Jumping around like pogo sticks trying to give and take energy from the plane. Very entertaining.

Greg,

Well, here at sea level in cool air it would be OK, mostly. In the hot at altitude, it's ah, overweight condition was tough. Might have helped if I had brought the right props too. But it was OK. The morning flight I got was mostly OK.

You just have to be careful in the corners. It will never be a good flying plane, but it was an OK flying one.

Thanks for the update.....Well it looks really nice....I live in So. Ca. about 800 feet above sea level, so maybe you should consider hanging it in my garage where the air is denser and it would fly better. Grins
