VSC - Well, I'm here and it's fun

Made it out to fly today. Load of fun. Wish the Cobra flew better, but hey, it's not raining, the wind isn't bad, it's not too hot and I get to fly. How bad can it be?

Not only haven't I taken pictures (my bad), I lost my glasses at the field. Hope they turn up. I'll post a "have you seen a gray glasses case" notice tomorrow. Sigh... Glad I brought my contacts, but all day with those was a bit tough. I love having allergies.

Clint, Hey, your supposed to be here! I was looking for you all day.   ;D  Well, a little anyway. I'll hunt you down tomorrow.

Coolest moment: Bob Whiltely flying Rich Loomis's (I think that's the spelling) Two Bits. An 825 square inch push-pull layout with 2 Aero Tiger 36s. Absolutely awesome. And RJ can fly. That's certain. I don't know how well it flies (pretty good from the looks of it), but it get the most "cool" points.

My plane is flying a bit better. Lot of messing around today and it sort of flies OK. Hopefully, with the the trim changes I made tonight (with a knife - from the bottom) it will be good enough to get away with tomorrow.

There is supposed to be a windstorm on Thursday. Guess we'll have to see. But the last two days have been wonderful. Hey, it's rainy, windy and cold at home.

Hey Randy I forgot to look you up as I didn't get til 0900 today.  What with the mutt I only got two flights on the 13 and a test run on the Fox on the Spitfire.  Got to see the miniture Spit that Jack Sheeks was showing off today.  I think he was in awe that someone would do that for him.  He is such a gentleman.  DOC Holliday

Yep, that's the model.  A full 6' wingspan.  Rick won Sr Stunt at the 1967 nats with this design.  Power back then was a McCoy 35 in front and a McCoy 29 in the back to stay under the max displacement limit.

A couple of additional photos: John Calentine's OTS entry.  It is a Jim Hunt designed Travel Air biplane.

Gads...is that Rick? He was just a kiddie...but so was I...and I remember that flight with his big mellow-yellow push puller. He flew an awesome pattern that would have given the top three open flyer a run for their $$$. 1st place open by a wide margin was Klapinkski...2nd place....Mathis....and Gieske...wipin up the rear in 3rd.

Think I have taken one picture.  Great pictures to all and great to meet people only talk with here on the forum.  Clint was late getting here.  Randy Powell wanted to see the P-39.  Have two flights on the Spitfire, flies great now with Lee/McCullom handle.  Will try to get P-39 up either Fri or Sat.  Later,  DOC Holliday

This "Two Bits" just screams at me...FLAT BLACK. Looks a heck of a lot like a Stealth critter. I do dig that super pointy spinner on the aft engine! And two Aero Tigers! Randy Smith has a big grin when he $ee$ that, dontcha know!  LL~  I'd sure like to be watching RJ fly that mutha!  H^^ Steve

Shultzie, just a wild guess but the contents of Rick's shirt pocket could have something to do with it.   :(      Tultzie
