Sunday at our field
« on: March 25, 2012, 08:14:50 PM »
Well I finally got to where I felt like going to the flying field and it was a beautiful day in New Orleans so a fellow club member swung by and picked me up.  Took a couple of pictures I thought I might share with you.

The first one is Bob Porter with his SAKITUMI that is a kit by Walter Umland and folks if you have no seen one of these in person, it is a beautiful plane.  Bob has covered it in transparent film an it looks great.

The other pictures are of Allan Perret with his Randy Smith designed SV11.  Allan flew a couple of patterns with it while I was there and the plane flies great and looks great in the air and of course Allan is a great pilot...

Hope you enjoy them.

Gary until I have surgery this summer on my back, I cannot stand and fly for six minutes.  I have stenosis of the spine and it is just to painful to do that.  I also have two knees that have to replaced after the back surgery. Once all of this is done, Hopefully I will be able to stand a fly again.... It's a bear getting old..LOL....I enjoyed just seeing all the guys and taking some pictures and swapping a few stories .... that is the best part to me anyway.....but I do have a couple of planes that I need to get in the air just as soon as I can.....glad you guys enjoyed the pictures...

Did you guys notice the hammer lying in the grass close to Allan?  If the engine doesn't start, that is for plan B.  mw~ mw~

Not sure about that. SV11 looks to good to take a hammer to it.

I did wonder why he was flying off a stooge if there was an able body to launch.

Paul, believe it or not, just about everyone out there today either has a bad back or bad knees and cannot bend over.  Isn't that pitiful?   I think Allan always carries his stooge with him because you never know if anyone will show up at the field or not.  It was a cool stooge the way he had it rigged..

What show was that Howard?  Was it Laugh In?...heck I am getting CRS .  Yes Walter did a really nice job on that kit and Bob did a great job of building it.

Bodies yes;    able,  not so much. LL~
Kidding aside, I actually prefer a stooge.

Very nice planes. Beautiful day. I sympathize Mike, about your difficulties. Recovering myself from three months of bad back incapacitation. Best of luck. Hope you see improvement soon.

Thanks Dennis...this will be my second surgery on my back..I hope this one will last me till I die... I really want to get this fixed so I can fly out to VSC next year.  I have never been and want to go at least once before I go to that great flying field in the sky...  #^

I should have split those sentences into separate paragraphs.  I was inquiring about the B-24 lady, a bit of an unfinished story.

Howard the young lady who is flying the B24 is in college and she was home on spring break when that picture was taken.  She is back in school now.  Her dad is the one who actually built the plane and I have been trying to reach him to get more details on the plane and see if he has plans for it but have not been able to reach him yet.
