Please and Thank You. ;D

Amazing; 38 people have looked and there are no replies yet. Wish there were some. Those guys are probably having way to much fun to load pictures.
-
Probably 39 of us waiting to see what is happening... I hope I can be there 2017

Gosh dang it I have flown with/against Bob? cant remember his last name. The light blue plane at the bottom. Even ran into him at the Reno air races 2 years ago. How about that German Camo schemed Shark, thats badass! H^^
-
Light blue model at bottom of pic is Jim Rhodes' "Apteryx". Luftwaffe camo Shark is Charles Reeves' "Humbler".

Glad it's not your wing Clint!
I've seen Charlie's "Humbler" in St. Louis before, very, very nice. y1
-
The plane in the front row, third from the bottom, is Gordan Delaney's Super Viking. Only model to receive 20 AP's. Well deserved too!
-
With the exceptions of Clint and Mikey, I guess they are too busy flying of a day and partying of a night. #^ #^ #^
-
I shoot very few last night, but here's what I have:

No pictures, but some impressions. VSC is more lightly attended this year. But then I've noticed that everywhere we go in Tucson there are less people so it may not be related to VSC (there were about half the number of people in Tubac today than last year). The weather has been awesome. Cool in the morning with some wind but not unflyable at all. Turbulent later in the morning. Not splats (apart from mine) and I believe I'm the odds on favorite for the Pachyderm award.
Edit: Jim Hoffman told me that the attendance was much the same, just more Old Time fliers and less Classic and Super 70s.
-
Can I ask who the Quasar belongs to? I believe that was a Bob English design. Beautiful.

Merry told me that Jerry was about finished with a new "Patriot." Who is in the foreground with the other beautiful "Patriot"? Thanks for posting the pictures. I really miss going to VSC!

More pics from judging.

Gordon, need to turn camera over. LL~ LL~ But when I click on the address below the pics they show up right on the page and I can enlarge them. Thanks for the pics. H^^

Gordy's Bellanca is AWESOME! Don't remember who designed it but will look it up in my binders tonight. I remember the article but not the author/designer.

Great day today. After the official flights were done, Clint Ormosen let Bart Klapinski fly his Tempest. It was an awesome flight. Possibly the best flight I've seen the entire week. Smooth, tight corners and a wicked presentation. As he was watching flight, Clint said, well, at least I know it WILL fly that well (Client flew it pretty well too after smacking it yesterday). I think Clint better keep an eye on that plane or Bart will walk off with it. He said it was really fun to fly. Nice job, Clint.
-
Ted, it's a Jim Young design. And something you don't see is not only is it a scale interior complete with steering yoke, pedals and I swear a miniaturized radio, but it has a head liner with chrome retention bands. It really is AWESOME. He could just about fly this in scale and do well.
-
Do you know what power Gordan has in his Bellanca? Did they let people fly electric powered? A year or two ago, they said "No electrics". Just wondering. S?P Steve

The Bellanca has a McCoy 40RH in it.

A MAN'S model, way to keep the flame Gordan. BW@
I remember seeing photos here of the Bellanca back when it was getting finished up, it's as good as it gets. y1

There were at least 2 electron burners.

Yup. Just looked it up in my binders. October '69 MAN. The original was gorgeous as well. Gordon is a true modeler's modeler.
Hope he's getting around better than the last time I saw him. Is his Sandy with him? Between the two of them they've been suffering real hitches in their get-a-longs for several years now. Sure hope they're both back up to speed.

Haven't seen Sandy, but Gordy seems to be getting along pretty well.

I wanted to recognize the Viking as being supurb from my viewe, also I was so surprised to see the Quazar has a near identical paint job as I put on my Olympus.

Ahh Yes thats it Jim Rhodes!

Love the Bellanca, nice work Gordon. Also like the Blue Angel. If this is Randy C's it's gotta be 15 years old.
Thanks for the Photos
Mike

Beautiful models - I especially loved the Martin-Baker MB5. Do we know the designer? Is there a plan available?
Regards
John

Here is some video of Bart doing a pattern with my Tempest. Sorry about the quality. I had start the engine then get the camera going in a hurry and get around the circle a bit.

OK Clint, next time I see you in Woodland I want to see you fly like that! LL~ LL~ LL~
Jerry
PS: It'd take me about a million years to get that good!
-
Gordy flew a Heinz 57 in a fly-off with Bart. Fun to watch.
Chris...
-
It must be all those years at Disney World. Bart makes it look so easy. Of course having a great airplane helps too. Now go show them at the next contest.

VSC permits electric power in all events except of course OTS IGNITION.
VSC has always permitted electrics

Thanks Mike,
Yes it's my Blue Angel and it was built in 1996 and flew in 8 previous VSC's. Scarinzi was there the first year it was flown. I miss him, and you these days! It's picked up a bit of extra weight in repairs (6 oz) and doesn't fly quite as well as it did originally, but 27% nitro does amazing things! Still fun to fly even for a rickety old guy! LL~ LL~
Didn't get the Colossus finished in time for this VSC!
Maybe next year!! H^^ H^^ H^^

Who was flying the nice yellow and white Gieseke Nobler?

Who was flying the nice yellow and white Gieseke Nobler?
Yellow Nobler was built and flown by Bruce Cunningham of Hutto Texas

Lanny Shorts and his newly formed "Over 80 Club" at VSC.

Good buddies Bart and Gordan compare score sheets from their shootout.
-
i like the photo of the over 80 club. I know Lanny....can anyone identify the rest of these fine gentlemen? I'd like to be a member someday. H^^
Thanks,

Hi Ted, Sorry to hear you where under the weather just before leaving. Hope your feeling better. The weather was great all week. Thank you for the nice comments about the Bellanca. I was doing fair with my pain pills. Sandy is waiting for surgery on her left ankle in April. She is a strong woman and a good one too. I always looked up to you for years. Your always a good sport and have high standards which I admire.. Just a little note on my last flight I had one of those great flights going on right up to the time I forgot the Hourglass. Not so happy camper.

Lanny on far left, Bob Emmett on the far right. Can't ID the others, but I'd bet we can ID them one at a time! D>K Steve

Left to right, those octogenarians are:
Lanny Shorts
Vic Lichtenberg
Glen Allison
Wes Dick
Nick Lemak
Bob Emmett
Ed Capitanelli and Lew Woolard not in photo
BTW - Lew Woolard is 90+

I prefer not to talk about screwed up hourglasses!
Give your lady a hug for us and give her our best.

What we are seeing is a few of the front-row models with all the trick paint jobs.
There's more to VSC than that!
F.C.
-
Speaking of front row models with beautiful paint, does anyone know where plans for that Quasar can be had?
Thanks,
Chris
-
I thought the Quasar was a Fred Bachl design. Who knows?
-
That Quasar design is by Bob English. The model at VSC was done by Tom McClain. I do not know where he got the plans.
Keith
-
Yeah, that plane has a sweet shape. Would love to build one.
It's caught my eye multiple times now in various pics. It could be LOVE, LOL.
Any leads on plans appreciated.

Chris

Old Time day, Texans? Oops, Colorado.
(as usual, click to enlarge and get right side up)
Some day some one will tell me how to get them right side up?
-
??? Why any u/c stunt guy doesn't plan a trip to VSC at least every couple years, I'll never know. ???
-
Better this way.
-
Well I made it quite a few years before things happened. I'm still breaking records though. H^^
-
That MB5 is spectacular!
-
Better this way.
Ah, those people in that photo are from Colorado.
Keith

YUP!

Old Time day, Texans?

Just for the record, the flag flying in the picture shows the Colorado colors, not Texas.
-
Did Jerry Phelps fly this year? 'haven't heard from Team Phelps yet.
-
Jerry and Merry Phelps were at VSC, but Jerry did not fly.
Merry tabulated for 5 days and Jerry did some score sheet running (actual walking).
They said they had a great time and were in Az. for about a month. They are back home in Ohio now. I believe they are considered going to the Brodak contest.
