Virginia Beach Air Museum

Went to our new Virginia Beach Air Museum to day and had the best time. Navy planes, German, British, Russian and Air Force. Picked up  a pilot and took him over to the work hanger about 30 miles away to ferry a Hurricane back to the museum. all planes are air worthy. He did a  fly by for us  about 50 ft off the ground what a sound with that Merlin whining. What a day.

Here is a few extras, also waiting for permission to build a real german WW2 Hanger and a British WW2 control tower. That is a V1 on the original wood wheeled delivery dolly. I could not get a good picture.

Is this brand new as I don't remember it mentioned when we were there for the NATS years ago.  Still remembe Melvin and I practicing Mouse I racing and he kept over shooting the pit stop.  Day of competition the plane would stop as soon as it touched the asphalt.  Also the gravel pit we had for carrier.  Had fun had Virginia Beach, especially the little bake shop with the Strawberry-Rhubarb pie.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

Brand new hasn’t opened yet . We had  almost a personnel tour, where the planes came from where they were flown. Lots of personal information. They had a Hurricane that they found in Russia frozen in the tundra with the pilot still in the cockpit in perfect condition The Pilots family recognized him by his pictures. The museum paid to send the body back and also paid for his funeral. One man is doing all of this.

Here is the picture of the Hurricane cockpit  If you look closely at the armor plating in the rear of the cockpit you can see the dent where the bullet went through the pilot and hit the plate.
