Wow... already?? Time flies.

2015: SO many great memories. As I just watched the 2015 video above there was a lot of emotions that coarsed through me... all good... but some a bit melancholy. I will always treasure my memories of the experiences I lived while attending the 2015 event.

Hope you guys have a great time this year.

Say... who was that AWESOME flyer at the first of that 2015 video???  LL~  LL~

Thanks Mike and Andre, as you cas see I have plenty of Nitro on hand in case any of those electric whizzy-malign thingies show up again  LL~ I think they need a year or two to recover from last year experience.  S?P It’s to bad that you guy’s can’t make the trip, I know both of you got Nitro running through you veins too. I will try to post some live footage if I can get a signal.

Turnout was low this year due to Covid. We had 42 planes between 5 flyers. We picked up our childhood heros Larry Scarinzi and Mike Luciano. Larry brought the original Killer, Greased Lightning, and Super Satan v12 from the magazine article. Larry is 87 and Mike is 86. Although they dont fly anymore they mentioned how we took them back 50+ years.  Wind was a bit of a challeng but no casualties to report!

The Scarinzi speed challenge was won by Al Ferraro at 124mph with his Slasher design.

The Speed Stunt event was won by Carl "Tommy" Schaefer with a very Impressive maiden flight on his G21-35 powered Nemesis 2. Time was 124.3 to do the pattern!

Congratulations to both for outstanding flights. I will post other results when I get home.

Hi Brian, here’s a photo of the engine that is on the Slasher. It is a Fox 36X BB (with Diamond intake) that has your piston and liner set installed. I also performed other secret engine mods to it that only a few others have access to because they are locked up in the LS bunker. This engine chugs 60% nitro faster than water running over Niagara Falls! This was the maiden outing for the Slasher and engine and I couldn’t be any happier with the results. It still needs some trimming and tuning to max it out to its full potential.
This years Combat festival had lots of exciting flights and highlights even with the lower turn out. There where lots of gorgeous vintage combat planes to see in action, not just hanger queens. This year a Nemesis just edged out a Super Satan  for the win in stunt speed.

Hello Good to hear the vintage combat event went well with some good speeds achieved and fast stunt times .
Al's model looks neat with it paint job and graphics.

Looking forward to the ABC sets for the Fox 36X's

We have a vintage combat meet planned here in New Zealand at the Kakanui field for December the 20th but attendance due to covid will probably be an issue as well. Probably get a mix of UK style diesel models and U.S. '35' size classic models .

Regards Gerald

This is such a fun event.  Here's some pic's of my Arrow design I built in 1959 and then the new one I built for this year's event.  The new one is powered by a Fox 36X with BG P and L.  Did 107.5 MPH on its first flight with 10% nitro and 8x7 prop.  Also first flight on the engine.  Can't say enough about the Brian Gardner setup.

Shawn Cook entertained us by absolutely ripping it up with Al's Modern fast ship. Fox Mk. 7 for power! Larry had the best line during the flight as Shawn was turning and burning at high speed. He said to my father "Hey Mike good thing we got out when we did!

That FOX MKVII was really Singing!!! y1 That was on only 10% nitro! ;D Definitely one of the strongest .36 engine ever made. Shawn really put on a show tearing up the sky!
Thanks Tom for the great video’s, I know it takes a lot of time to edit and upload them.

So I wanted to get a picture with Larry's original Super Satan. Yes this is the one from the magazine! He didnt want to take it and I reassured him nothing would happen to it on the ride down as I would put it in my carrier. So, no probem on the way down and I placed it down on the ground so the gusty winds wouldnt grab it. So time for the photo, Larry removes the rag around the engine. We take the shot and I go fly. In the mean time Larry puts the rag on the engine just so. He places the plane on the picnic table and I thought thats not A good idea. Yup, by the time I got to him the plane went sailing off the table! Thank god,  just a little splinter in the Stab. I grabbed the plane and put it in the car!

Here is a keeper of a shot.
Al Ferraro, Larry Scarinzi, Mike Luciano, and yours truly.
