Very sad news Rich Peabody has passed
« on: July 09, 2024, 11:42:03 AM »
I just saw this on FB that Rich Peabody has passed. Rich was one of the 20% who did the work so the 80% could have the fun. He loved this hobby and much of the work he did was unnoticed. Rich was a good friend, I flew with him in NJ at the GSCB and also when he moved down the FL, we would be a the KOI, and Tampa contests. I will miss him.

Best,   DennisT

Wow sad news.
Rich was one of the first modelers that I connected with when I first came to the area.

I heard he was sick.

Our condolences to the family.

Sad news indeed. I never met Rich but I certainly enjoyed his many "controversial" posts. I believe he was a genuine individual who proudly wore a suit of armor around his many "fans". Treasure what we still have guys.

Sad news indeed. I was always happy to see Rich when we'd meet at contests around the Northeast in the early '90s. His offbeat sense of humor fell right into my way of thinking. I'm heartbroken that I'll never see him again. Those flying circles in the clouds above us are getting awfully crowded. Say hi to Les for me, Rich.

That is sad news to hear Rich passed away, I always enjoyed seeing Rich at different events.  Many people considered him controversial  but I think that was his way of making us see our opinions and ideas wasn't the only way of looking at things .  Fair skys and light winds my friend Rest in Peace.

I liked Rich -a lot. We often flew together at contest . If he was not flying he judged . He always tried to judge fairly

My favorite story about Rich is from a contest in NY State in the 80's  I was just trying to learn the Old Time pattern and my Ringmaster had a balky Fox 35 ( before the mods)

Well I crashed in practice so I went to Rich and asked to fly his super Clown.  "  Hay Rich can I fly your Clown just crashed my plane "   What! You want to now fly my plane ; Ya says I .  He let me fly his plane and I placed well. What a guy!

Special prayers tonight for him

Rich will be missed, for sure.  He was a helpful mentor online, via phone, and in-person at Brodak's.

Never met him but I liked him, especially after seeing his response in an internet pissing competition about life time achievements. He simply said that he'd been a Math Teacher for 40 years. Top achievement in my humble opinion.
