Vector Sport at last
« on: May 23, 2008, 03:43:40 PM »
I first posted a picture of this plane without finish a few months ago.  It is a lightly kit bashed Vector-not an ARF, not and ARC.  Power is a 40FP modded many years ago by Randy Smith.  Weight is 45 ounces, Both Sig and Brodak dope was used, unrubbed out for now.  First flight soon.  It's amazing how an open cockpit can change the visual personality of a design.  I couldn't find the "show us your new plane" thread so I'm going solo.  Hope no one minds.

Hey Pete,

That is one "Impressive" ship. Hope all goes well with the weekend flights. I don't think I have ever seen a Randy Smith airplane fly bad, so I'm sure you're gonna luv it.

Man that's pretty, Pete! I like the open cockpit. Kinda looks like golden age racer meets George Barris.
64th in classic at VSCXX! And proud of it!

Thanks all esp "Stunt 1", I'm honored.  - major influence was Tucker Special and John Sunderland's 97 Chevelle - still one of my favorites.

Pete, tell us what you did to get that effect on the lettering. Paint-mask, airbrush ?

thanks  Paul

Hi Paul - The lettering technique I use is simple and I have been doing it this way for quite awhile.  First have a mask made up at local sign shop or better yet, Control Line Central.  Gold air brush in middle of letter, black on top and bottom.  Did you decide to build a Vector?  I think it would be a good choice.   Another view below.  8)

Pete, I'm totally insulted! I recieved no email and no picture of this Vector. No notice whatsoever that you had finished it. I had to READ about right here with the general masses. Whatever did I do to deserve this kind of treatment from a local guy? Please explain my fall from your good graces. Sheesh!

Oh, and plane looks great!

Gimme a break Clint ;D - you are still in my good graces, hey, at least I sent you a pic of the three of us at VSC 20 (hope you got that one). Very nice Dwayne, you went quite a bit further then I did and it looks great. The 40 Vector kit really lends it self well to this sort of creativity IMHO.
