CL Progress and Hope in NJ.
« on: January 05, 2012, 08:52:02 PM »
I know it's difficult to get young people interested in CL model aviation but the following gives a ray of hope.
In the town of Millville, NJ a gentleman by the name of Howard Bueschel is leading a group of youngsters on a proper path to CL.
He has worked tirelessly to teach these kids the principles of building and flying and the results are most encouraging.

The group meets at the Millville Army Airfield Museum. They started with very basic planes and have worked up to those shown in the pictures.

Howard is the tall gent, second from the left. He's from Trenton, NJ and his following started as the 2010 INTRODUCTION TO AVIATION.

He deserves a great deal of appreciation and I truly hope that more will learn from his example.

Those are great looking planes for kids that young, and I love the looks on their faces. I have always believed that one must progress this far to have the confidence and pride of building to love the hobby. I hope he can maintain the relationship he's built with these kids and lead them even further. Perhaps the parents will catch on to, which would really be great, and it seems, unusual. Great post!

There's the problem, parents,  unless the youngsters get support from their parents it will only last a little while.

I do commend the genteman for taking time with the youngsters and hope he does get support to keep them going. H^^

I`d like to post an update to the info that Bill left about the Cumberland Controliners. Secretary is Ed Carlaw 856-451-7524. My email address is in the members section of this forum. The field is in pretty good shape, but as with all fields it is a work in progress. As Bill stated anyone is welcome to join. You can contact Bill, Roy, John, or myself at the numbers listed. It`s great to see that kids still show an interest in model aviation and especially controline flying. Thanks, Ed.

As one more side note, I`d like to thank everyone for the suggestions about overcoming the dizziness-yea I`m the guy trying to fly controline from the prone position. Anyway thanks for all the suggestions and if anyone has any questions about the club don`t hesitate to call. I am usually working but you can leave a message or email me or contact any of the other guys for info. I`d also like to thank Bob for bringing the club into the limelight. Ed.

You might want to also post your club info in the "forum" for that purpose, at the bottom of the forum list, just above "Classifieds".

I'm so glad that Bob didn't use "Hope and Change" in the subject line. Partly because that's already been used, and also because it hasn't worked out too well so far.  H^^ Steve
