Veco Tom Tom Plans

I have the CLC kit for that version, and will check to see if they are full size plans. As I recall, they are isometric like the original Veco kit plans.

Might be after Christmas before I can get to them, so remind me if I forget (a regular occurrence these days).

The old Veco version is much better looking (IMO), and I really liked the one I built in the 50's.

That was my first airplane. With 70-foot lines and an OK .29 on a windy day, it didn't get very far.

Thanks Bill!  I have the later kit; would like to see drawings or isometric for the earlier version 'cuz it looks cooler to me too.  I'm fairly confident CLC did the earler version I'm looking for.

Ah yes, an OK .29 !  Better than 4 strands of Pirelli, but not much.

Well, you made me curious, so I got my Tom Tom plans down from the loft, and they are indeed the isometric version.

My kit is still untouched, so making outlines of some of the hand cut parts would not be that difficult, if you don't mind waiting a while.

The plans appear to be a copy of the original Veco plans, with the fuselage side view added to the tall top margin of the page.

If you are building from the kit, I imagine that the tail surface outlines might suffice, as you can compare the side view on these plans to your parts.

Mine had a Fox 35 for power, but I don't recall how well it flew, other than it seemed to be very stable, and maneuverable. It was also my first larger than half-A airplane, and I was no where near being a competent stunt flier then (or now for that matter).

No need to trace parts, just an isometric showing the "turtledeck" if you will would suffice.  The (later) kit I have is fine, but I'd like to modify the "flat top with a canopy" to look more like the original version.

I built one years ago from someones repro kit that had a lot of changes in it from the original, but they did show the changes on the plans which I wish every kit manufacturer would do. It is a good flying plane. I built mine as a three line with an Enya 19IV TV engine. It was fun to work the throttle through manuevers.

Great point, Jim!  When you buy an "Acme Sky Knight", you expect to get an "Acme Sky Knight"!

I have a set of hand drawn plans from kit parts. I can pin it on the wall and take a picture of it and send that to you. It is the same as the Smoothie.
