VECO 29R
« on: October 19, 2011, 02:33:44 PM »
Maybe this should be in the engine section but I'll give it a try here.
I found this VECO 29R at a flea market. Cheap so I figured "what the heck" and bought it.
It has a large red "R" decal on the bypass.
It's brand new, never run and has all the paperwork and decals.
The glow plug appears to have a ceramic insulator.
Safe to assume the the "R" stands for race so it was probably intended for B speed.
The paperwork shows an address for VECO PRODUCTS CORPORATION at P.O. Box 229, Burbank, Ca (No zip code so it's probably from the 50s.)
Anyone know anything about it? If indeed used for B speed, was it successful? As I recall, there were a number of purpose built speed engines in the 50s but I've never seen a VECO like this.
Should be interesting to hear it run!

OK engine specialists, let's hear from you!!!

Most likely intended for B team racing or proto speed.
