Title: VACATION/STUNT CLINIC; EDMONTON, ALBERTA. (PICS. TOO)
Post by: Allen Goff on September 30, 2009, 03:25:54 PM
After a busy summer, my wife Jan and I took a much needed vacation to Onaway, Alberta, Canada. After talking with Bruce Perry before hand, he invited me to a stunt clinic in Edmonton, just 45 miles away. He was flying Dave the "world champ" Fitzgerald in to run the clinic. And what a great time it was, and what a great host. Made some new friends too, Larry, Brian, Monty, and I know I've left some out. Spent some quality time in Bruce's work shop. We took a break Saturday afternoon to a local pizza parlor, then on to Bruce's to work on trim issues with some of the guys stunt ships. Then later in the day we went back to the flying field to test the new changes. I did come away with some valuable information from Dave, and Bruce too, I will be adding it to my next flying sessions at home. Here are some pictures, enjoy. Again, THANKS BRUCE, and tell the guys thanks also.

Blessings
Allen

Alan, great pictures of the planes and the people.  Don't apologize over pic #2.  Remember we all are only human to a point.  Might take a note book and pen next time.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

Yeah, there was a "race guy" there... When a world champ talks, I listen, regardless. There's ALWAYS tidbits here & there to pick up from the masters of sport. Some 'specialists' don't think they can learn from other disiplines...Others, know better!
It was great. Thanks to Bruce for organising it & a big thanks to Dave for coming down to see us.
Cheers, Paul

p.s. apologies for the loss of Dave's mustashe trimmer at Edmonton International airport security....(gotta keep out them 'Terrists'....)

Allen will have to attend the Prairie Fire Stunt Contest in August of 2k10! I've been 3 times, and thoroughly enjoyed each. Bring shorts and polar fleece. I'll fly (stunt) next time. Great group and a really fun weekend!

Picture 009 shows, L>R, Bruce Perry, ????, Neil Rogers, Monty Summach, Dave Fitzgerald and Bryan Carr. I don't know who the guy between Bruce and Neil is for sure, but might be Larry Maltman...or Allen Goff, who I've never met. No "Wilvis" in sight...that's too bad! I hope to see Will (Reeb) again next summer.  H^^ Steve

PS: For what it's worth, I watched "The Racer" (Paul Gibeault) fly a very nice second round pattern (in Int.) that would have put the worries on a lot of bottom feeder "Experts" at NW Regionals. The first round flight was pretty scary, but the second was quite good. More practise, Giblets! We need more BBB's in PA at NW Regionals...

Marek, I am sorry for "left out", 30 hours and 2,000 miles home left me a little forgetful. ???
Hope we can get together next year somewhere.

Blessings

Allen,

Thanks for posting the pics!  It was a fun couple of days for sure.  I appreciated that you took time to come by for the festivities.  I really wanted to see the Mezlik (sp?) prop on the 75.  Ahh well, I'll order some from Randy once the stock hits Dacula.

We enjoyed lots of jibber jabber and lots and lots of questions were put to Dave who answered all graciously and with great detail.  Thanks Dave for making the effort to come up.  I really wish the weather had cooperated better and we could have flown more.  Oh well....

By all reports the event was a success and the information was well recieved.

In attendance were, Allen Goff, Muncie In. Bruce Perry, Edmonton AB, Neil Rogers, Edmonton, Marek Kozera, Calgary AB, Brian Carr, Calgary AB, Monty Summach, Saskatoon Sask, Larry Maltman, Winnipeg Man. and of course Dave Fitzgerald, Napa CA.  Paul Gibeault, Edmonton, AB appeared for a guest star role.

Thanks everyone for coming, I am pleased with the results and I hope you are all using Dave's good advice.  I expect there are several PA 75 orders waiting to be filled in Dacula.  I have two and I wanna order another....

Bruce.
