I am, and have been too rapidly accumulating much more than I ever need ---and my son will probably get a lot of it if I croak before he retires and WE can play toy plane together
This subject come up some what frequently these days, and we have seen the grand efforts a few times---- like Peabody just did with an estate of stuff to liquidate
I actually think you may be jumping the gun and being a bit premature on your prostrate cancer probability of near death...yes sir.... it is really serious. !!
And yes, you may not make it another 20 years...
But, I suspect if you do as suggested, and get a few more tests and second/third opinions.....
I mean really...!!!
if I was to choose no hard on and peeing my diaper--- over death ---I know how I vote... and that SIR is worst case
So I humorously say it all DEPENDS
I hope this makes you smile

If you really consider clearing out some of your stuff I would suggest forwarding it to Mike Stinson. Mike runs beginner stunt at the Nat's and he is always needing prizes to give out to the beginners. But I must say I think your may be getting a little ahead of things .
Wishing you the best of luck and praying.

Hi Rusty. First let me say that I am very sorry to hear about your situation and I pray that with the right treatment they can cure this. As far as your collection goes the ideal scenario would be to find young people who do not have the money to buy what they need but want to get into the hobby. However, having tried to do that exact same thing in the past I can tell you it is almost an impossible thing to do. I had a Oriental ARF that sat in my closet for years untouched and I tried very hard to give that model away through contacts who had children and grandchildren and got absolutely no interest what so ever. Unfortunately we are the last of a dying breed and someone once joked that some day, in the future, there will be one widow woman who will end up with every model plane in existence. That may be true.
I have made a lot of contacts over the years within the hobby and will let you know if I hear of any situation that might suit what you are seeking. In the meantime I wish you the best with this battle.

I have a friend who was diagnosed with prostate cancer when in his very early 60's. Surgery, Chemo, etc....
He's now 83 and still building and flying CL. Don't give up! Keep at it! As long as you want to live you can! I firmly believe that. Prayer does help! You have mine!
Get tough, don't give up!

We get lots of people that show up at EAA Airventure and ask the same thing.
We are exposing about 2000 kids per year to control line at KidVenture, and quite frankly a lot of our equipment is pretty worn out.
"I have a bunch of kits, engines and stuff how can I help."
Art Johnson takes the donated stuff, sells it throug various methods and gives the all the money to KidVeneture for batteries, fuel and the stuff we need to operate.
But I like prizes at the nats for Juniors.

50+ kits and 100+ engines is too much.

If you feel the compelling need to sell your stuff, post it up in the classified section right here.
Selling is about getting your product in front of valid, interested customers....and there's a few thousand potential customers that read this forum.
Price it right and it will all move.

Very sorry to hear of your health issues but don't give up the fight! Get the best care you can and make some lifestyle changes if you must. It can go a long way. If you absolutely must get rid of your modelling stuff consider the classifieds or Ebay and help your family out. Donating a few things to the NATS prize table for the Jrs. would be admirable as well. I can tell you I saw many nice things going to some up and coming Jr. flyers at this years NATS and it was appreciated. I hope and pray for your recovery.

Offer it all up for the person that finds the cure for prostate cancer . D>K ;)
Spary could classifyerise the exotic stuff for funds for the site .
25's and sub 4 ft. span stuff to the air scouts dept / as in pass on to people to pass on to disadvanteged youths who are aeronautically inclined , could do some good .
Know what you mean. Gets to be an obsession . Obsessive compulsive aquisitive disorder ! . Pays to maintain a degree of logic . Fresh air & walks can help the health .

I would offer that you give it all to FCM - Fellowship of Christian Modelers

Rusty.. My Father just went thru the prostate cancer radiation treatments last April.. He had the seeds planted in his prostate which I understand is more or less a target for the radiation treatments they give you. He went thru 45 days of treatment and he was 79 years old at the time.. During the coarse of this.. He was out in his back yard flyng every other day and in his shop every day working on airplanes. On weekends I would come up and rattle his cage about is flying.. Amazingly.. The only symptom of the treatments he had was being tired.. But that didn't stop him.. He wanted to live and fly more.. Today.. Thank you God.. And modern medicine.. He is cancer free!
Blessings

Well just keep going and I too will keep praying for you. After my little set back this year I have quit worrying about stuff the doctor won't tell me about. My biggest problem is the knees. Since March I have lost 30+ pounds and using my powered non-self propelled mower to mow my yard I have improved my endurance. I have also put in more flights this year than the past years. I aint going to worry about all this model airplane stuff when I leave this floating space rock. I will leave that to my relatives and friends. Now Rusty take care of your self, ya hear. VD~
