Title: USAF Blue
Post by: EddyR on September 06, 2008, 06:48:17 AM
The song USAF Blue introduction 1957. I have heard better renditions but the photo footage of the early 50's and mid 50's aircraft is very good. I like the B-47 JATO takeoff. Phil Bayly of the Tampa Bay Flyers was a B-47 pilot and told me many interesting stories of his years as a B-47 pilot. This is for Phil  and his great stories.         Ed

Doug Taffinder was a navigator on the B-47.  If you ever get the chance to talk with him about that, it is pretty interesting!

I remember the '50s and '60s being a great time for the excitement of aviation.  We were always looking up in the air when we heard an airplane!

I remember seeing this film at night when the local TV stations signed off for the night, right before the National Anthem, or when they signed on in the morning. I remember it well, thought it was very cool back then and it STILL looks very cool!
Thanks for putting up the link!

Is there some optional setting in Fire Fox that interferes with viewing the videos at YouTube?  I used to watch them without any glitches at all, but now I just get a static page from the web site, with no live links leading off the page into the film.  I upgraded to a newer version of my browser, and had to re-attach most of the add-ons, but I have both varieties of "flash" applets and MS Media Player, what more is needed?

My first duty assignment at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho was a SAC base. Equipped with B-47 and KB-50 tankers. They were pretty much 2nd string by that time[1963] but it was always fun to watch a rato assisted take off. Even better on an ORI and all B-47's on alert had to be in the air within 15 minutes. better then watching fireworks.
