I put this together for some of my YouTube subscribers that are curious about this hobby and have no idea what it is or even how the planes are controlled from lines. I thought everyone had seen CL at some point in their life but live and learn. Hope this answers some of their queries. My next one will show 1/2As and maybe how to get started.
Just trying to show some highlights and set the hook. When drones are grounded our CL hobby will grow exponentially.......... :D
Shug
This is the new updated video with suggestions from some of you all on it...thankee!

Great job! Keep them coming.
-
Gee Shug, that's awe-fully Patriotic of ya, to our sport, and to the C/L model industry! Way to go, and thanks for doing it. H^^
-
Awesome!
Phil
PS: I might have to rebuild my stooge like that!
-
Great introduction for those who might be interested. Only other thing you might have mentioned is that there is no throttle control like in RC, and the fact that you fly till the fuel runs out. Typical question I get when a newcomer shows up at field while I'm flying is "How do you make it land".
-
Fantastic!
-
Another great video. Can I safely say you might be the Jim Walker of this day and age.
-
Shug, i truly enjoy watching your videos!....Gene
-
Very cool!!!

I think Shug needs to take his act on the road.
I could just see him on his unicycle clowning around.
I want to be like Shug when I grow up. 😉
-
Good job Shug. Thanks to you and to your cameraman.
-
BRAVO!!!!!! Shug loved it. You did real good as a camera man, director, editor and the whole works.Keep it coming!
Juan

Impressive work Shug, and very entertaining! LL~
-
Very well done

Great job! Keep them coming.
I thankee for that. Re-working this video and adding some of the suggestion I have gotten. Keep the hobby alive!

A lot of my YouTube folks have asked and if it will boost the hobby a bit then that is goodly. I find so many folks...even RC flyers think it has gone away.

Awesome!

I am happy with that stooge. Saw it on the AMA website.
Thanks....I know that you were asking about a CL intro video.

Thanks for that. I want it to look fun. It is fun. I may escape TO Alabama.

Well thanks for both because I am both!

That style of stooge will save me from having to figure a tail hook of some type for the stooge I have. I bet I can make it so it suits my wheeled 1/2a stuff also.
I got the arf flite streak, engine, and fuel tank sitting here, and haven't even looked at it since picking it up. I hope to get to my own efforts soon. You set a high bar with a well done video.

Who's growing up? Myself I feel like a kid when flying and working on planes. I may be growing older age wise and wider size wise, but I will not grow up.
-
Good one, Shug! Now, how to get it in the mainstream...?
-
Shug,
Great video. For some reason you remind me of Jerry Reed (That's a good thing)
Anyway, keep at it! Your personality, humor and mannerisms are bound to attract new flyers.
Your O.S. Pulls very well even when it doesn't break out of 4. Impressive.

C'mon...you got to get that Flite Streak done and flying))))))
I found an article on that stooge on the AMA website.
Thanks a bunch.

Nor will I. I like your style Doc......

I just did the final so I have 22,000 subscribers so that is a start. Hope folks will forward it and put it on social media and maybe RC club websites. Maybe we can draw a few to the fold.....

I get that Jerry Reed thing a fair deal. Gene Hackman too.
Been fun doing these videos for sure.Just re-did it and added some suggests so it is longer but out there now. Made it public tonight.
I agree on that OS...it pulls real nice bubbling. Got a 10.5x4.5 prop on it.
-
I re-did the video and added in some of the suggestions I got on here like close up of bell cranks and pushrods, talk about how it runs until out of fuel and landing. More on handles and lines a bit.
As much as I know anyways.
This video is aimed at those who are curious but no nothing about what we do or how we fly them. Maybe a pert 2 in the future expelling the styles and more on all those concourse finish planes. And famous fliers.

Shug, just watched the video in the shop on the lap top. Well done and you make it really interesting. This is something I think the AMA could use at the different venues they go to. Nothing like the closing from a showman. Thanks alot from the old DOC.
-
Very nice job on the video, Mr. Shug! I am curious about your comment about your real job starting soon. ???
With the balancing the plane on your beak, I was thinkin' you're leaving with the Circus again? Are you good on a unicycle? I always wanted one...
One thing heard in our club is "Don't you guys ever fly for fun?", referring to us contest fliers. This comment makes no sense to many of us. It seems like everybody should want to build better airplanes, trim them to fly better, and learn to fly them better, at very least because they will last longer!
I am glad to see that you are accepting of new ideas and trying to improve your models and skills. If you could push that idea in your next videos, that would be very cool. You touched on the "learning" very lightly, and I think that should also be pushed. Lots of the stuff we learn applies to math and science knowledge, but also reading, writing, and artistic skills like graphics and color combinations. The hobby has made huge influences on the careers of many of us...me, for sure. :D Steve

I like the new one, but I liked the shorter nature of the first iteration a little too. This is definitely a more complete video. Thank you for taking the time.
Phil

Thanks for the work on this video Shug! It is a valuable and worthwhile service to newcomers and us "long time newcomers." Great job and keep it up!

I switched back to control line because I only have to walk 60 feet to pick up the pieces.
Maybe go easier on the crashing part? With an instructor crashing can be lessened during the learning process.
-
Nicely done sir!!!! I expect this video will stay at the top of the charts for a while. Thanks for keeping control line alive and encouraging the new comers!
-
Great videos Shug!
I personally like the Karl Childers one the best! Rock on man! ;D

Wow, Shug! This is one of the many topics I've missed out on while taking a couple of weeks away to devote to my surf fishing hobby. Since everyone has already said what I think and more, I'll just say thanks. You are bringing our hobby an enthusiasm that can't help but spread excitement and interest. Good work.

Shug,
Great Video. Thanks
-
Shrug, well done putting together an information and fun video. Producing such a video is a labour of love or nostalgia :)
Novice control line people will get a good grounding on the basics of what our enjoyable hobby is all about.
Keep your arm straight!

Yes....I do a comedy juggling/unicycle circus show. My Summer gets busy.....
I agree that there is a process in CL whether it be the flying or building. Getting some good comments on the video from the non-cl community.
Thanks.

Hard to get all the new stuff in there and not make it a two-part video. Most folks never seem to watch part 2 of series. Hope was it went by fast.

Haaa....I go fly alone a lot so I reckon I just go for stuff. Best way for me to learn. I must suffer!

It was a pleasure to do....plus I got more flying in.
